Nomination for Bike of the Month - February 2016
« on: January 01, 2016, 09:43:47 AM »
Yes, it's time (once again) to nominate some worthy SOHC/4's for Bike of the Month.

Among other choices, I know there are a bunch of winter projects going on.  Who has a worthy completed bike?

Four days into the month and no nominees . . .

I know there are many winter projects in progress, but there must be some completed ones worthy of recognition.  We have been fortunate to have BOTM graced with some incredible builds that inspire and push quality standards of performance, technology and aesthetics.

I'd like to nominate MickB's 1972 CB500 Restoration, if he's eligible. Last we saw of him he just had to adjust his float levels but the bike looked about complete.

He went from this complete basket case:

I'm not 100% sure either, he hasn't been around in a month or so since he was moving. That's why I wasn't positive if it was eligible or not.

Has it ever happened that BOTM had a hard time finding qualified candidates before? All These members, all these projects, how could this be? The last couple months it was hard to choose between any of the beauties that were built by our members and now there are only a few that may qualify?
Well, we're just not building them fast enough boys!
I've been keeping up and I see allot more machine time on engines and trick one-off parts happening recently. The new winners are out there , they just aren't finished yet. In no way should anyone suspect that interest in these fine machines has been lost...it's just taking a little longer to make them right. As it should be.
I think any member who starts with a basket case, a junkyard  save , or a barn find who is willing to spend late hours turning wrenches, polishing chrome or lacing rims to bring one of these old machines back are all winners.
A few Honda 500's, a few Honda 550's, a few Honda 650's, '72 cb 450, a couple 500/550/650 hybrids, and 2001 750.
550 Snowbike -Somebody had to do it.

Definitely.  There are a whole slew of detailed projects in progress -- some of them are nearing the finish line.

It would be nice if MickB's bike is eligible to make it a contest.

Unless MickB can confirm his bike is running, and gets a second AND accepts BEFORE the end of tomorrow, we will have a single candidate for BOTM and a winner.

Got this from Mick last night.

"OTP I've been away for a month, not running yet unfortunately.
Hopefully soon, problem is weather is around 95 - 105 each day and I can't be bothered.
All the best for the new year.
Regards
Mick"

Any more nominations?  Bueller?  Any other worthy past nominees?

Only one more day to secure nominations.
