Thanks for the link Mick.
It hasn't done much for my state of mind though.
This is the first time I haven't been in the middle of prepping a bike for PI at this time of year. :(
I think I'll head over to the "Pissed Off Thread". >:(

Cheers,
Brian

Long story.

After my accident in 2011 I was pretty determined to make to the grid for the Aussi Titles in 2012 at Oran Park.

MA where really good, the historic committee in particular.
They said that if I could get the doctor's to sign off on being fit to ride they would help in any way they could.

So, while I spent the next eight months in rehab, the boys back home put the bike back together.

None of the doctors at Royal Talbot thought I was serious so they humored me thinking it would give me some motivation. ;D

When I thought I was fit enough and had a release date, l produced the paper work from MA.
They shat themselves. Nobody would sign the paper work.
After a lot of "full and frank discussion" the big boss, professor Stev Allen was called and there was a lot more "full and frank discussion".

The bottom line was, I stuck around for an extra six weeks and if at the end of that I could jump through a few hoops he would sign off on my  competition license.

I did and he was true to his word.
He asked me to promise that I would pull the pin when I felt I could no longer race the bike safely.

That time came early last year.

Cheers,
Brian

for a racer there is no harder decision  to make , you have to be very honest with yourself and it would be much easier to carry on .
well done Brian you have been there and done it , you have nothing to prove .
it is however now your duty to turn up at race meetings and tell the other riders exactly why they are so slow !

Well my magnificent Harley Sportster goes into VICROADS for it's registration inspection today, so all going well I'll be riding it down to the Island to cheer on Cam Donald and Johnny Trease and see just how well their 130 BHP/156 MPH Sporty goes around that iconic track. It'll be good to catch up with Pete and Brian again too! Cheers, Terry. ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

+1, Its always a bit sad giving up on something that you love, or accepting the fact that you just can't do it anymore.  Still staying involved in racing in some way Brian.?

I know you'll find peace with your decision Brian, it's the right one, although as Simon says it's the toughest thing you'll do as a racer. I have a bit of a recollection (distant past) of how it feels, not easy brother. I remember not being able to go to a race track for a long time afterward.

Concerning this vid, it was fun to watch. Typical classic racing scene... on steroids. Mick you're right, these old bikes are being reborn. HP levels approaching 200 is crazy. The list of riders names as well as those in the background amazes me. It's classic MotoGP.  8)

Gday Brent, it really is attracting some awesome riders, I'll have to get down there and see it live, where else could you see that many 2 wheeled icons at the same time... ;)

The great thing about the classic is that unlike the Moto GP, you can walk around the pits without security throwing you out, and you can jump on your bike and ride from one vantage point to another. Compared to Broadford, it's a way better spectator venue too, as you can see a much larger portion of the track from just about any vantage point. Definitely the best track, and arguably the best bike event, in Oz. ;D

I spoke with Denis Curtis today. (CMRRacing) He says there will be 17 of his chassis racing this year in different classes. Pretty cool. We spoke a long time about the in's & out's of this years event. Man I gotta get there!

at least there are a couple of tz's in there amongst the replicas and never were classics [ i must have been asleep when an fj1100 became a classic race bike ]
dont recognise any of the riders though , think they will struggle against the ex gp and world superbike riders ...... but you never know and thats the beauty of bike racing .
