Sbekman - A few things you NEED to do before going too much farther. Buy a set of Vessel JIS bits. Each and every screw on that bike is JIS, not Phillips. They're very different and if you don't use a JIS driver, you'll strip every one out before they ever loosen. Also, buy an Impact driver to help dislodge them. From the oxidation present, the screws and especially the tappet covers (those finned beauties) will be very seized. Proceed with caution! They're aluminum-to-aluminum and they will gall and strip. Apply a very liberal dose of heat from a propane torch before attempting to unscrew them. When you replace the items, use a dab of Anti-Sieze to prevent thread issues.

The #1 cylinder (seated on bike, looking forward, #1-#4 left to right) appears to have significant rust. I suggest you remove the head and have it serviced. Probably water infiltrated the engine due to carbs being off. Other internal parts may have surface rust too, which is not the end of the world, but a treatment or removal is best.

You've got some work ahead of you, but Momo and Harisuluv will be huge helps with carburetor and parts and knowledge.

Thanks for the advice man! Just placed an order for some Vessel screwdrivers (the impact models), they should arrive Thursday :)  That's not what I was wanting to hear about the engine but it is what I was expecting... Guess I'll definitely be pulling it apart now.

Admittedly, I'm starting to see just how scarce 350F rebuild parts are... Anyone have good sources for stock sized pistons and rings? Found one source but thats all so far: http://cart.hondanuts.com/Piston-Kit-Honda-CB350F--P3947250.aspx

`I disagree.  It's not that much rust, I bet most of that would wipe off at the touch of a finger...if the valve moves fine while turning the motor over, that will clean itself right up.  I would still get that running as good as possible for a proper assessment before any sort of tear down.
If it works good, it looks good...

I actually have a couple of the "impacta" models.  They kind of suck IMO.  They are kind of useful in some situations but don't expect them to replace a good impact driver.  If I were you, I would get a set of megadora screwdrivers and a separate vessel impact driver.

That would be great if it cleans itself up. I'll give it a little WD40 when I try to start it up. I guess the worst I can do is further damage a part I already needed to replace. Harisuluv that's kinda a bummer about the screw drivers but they were cheap so I'll see what I think of them. I removed the exhaust tonight and thought I could sand blast the retainers but alas no access to the community college sand blaster. I'd love to do as much of this project myself so I'll keep looking for another sand blaster before sending the pieces out. Might just paint everything black if I don't have luck with the polished/raw look.

Yeah those are def not homemade headers haha those are from a CB400f.  I have them on my 350 also!  Have fun building that, I sure did with mine

Yeah those are def not homemade headers haha those are from a CB400f.  I have them on my 350 also!  Have fun building that, I sure did with mine

Thanks man, I removed them today and I'm gonna start cleaning them up tomorrow :)  I have all day to make some progress on this thing.

A lot of guys on here run the Dyna ignitions.  The PAMCO model is manufactured by one of the members on this forum (Pamco Pete) and a lot of people (me included) run it on our bikes.  Mine is on my 750 but I have to imagine it would work fine on the 350 as well.
