mr electrical coils on ebay
« on: January 26, 2016, 09:43:47 PM »
Has anyone tried these coils? Just curious, the price is good. I'd assume they were made with cheap labor $18.XX each and have coil towers so wires can be installed and changed.  I'm wondering about the ohms.

I kept seeing these coils while i was building my bike. I looked into them a few times and from what i found they were typically 2.3 to 3.2 ohms, for points I believe that is too low for points but for an electronic ignition, something like a dyna S they would probably work

The ad says they work and have a 1 year guarantee on most everything we have plus most twins. It does include later models, and I did recently fry a coil for an electronic bike using it on a points bike. Still wondering, would the ohms be too low for our use?

Don, why don't you shoot them an e-mail and ask what ohm readings the coils have so you have something definite. If they are around 3 ohm you would want to use Hondaman's 2 ohm resister packs with them.

I got a single plug version for my 71 cl100 12 volt swap, it checks at 3.8 ohms. I'll ask for an ohm number, thanks.

Update, I sent a message.

Yes, I found the same data while I was searching.

Thanks for the heads up, 2.42 ohms  plus or minus a few %.  Sorry I didn't listen sooner.
