Poll: Biggest pain when it comes to selling parts
« on: February 01, 2016, 09:30:38 AM »
Hi guys thinking for creating an android / iphone app to automate the process of selling used parts online and would really appreciate your feedback.  Please tell me your biggest pain point when it comes to selling parts online.

Thanks! :)

i selected "packing up" but it's actually the combination of packaging and getting the stuff to the post office.

were you going to add in Dufus Dickwadd Buyers?

Oh
edit: Dufus Dickwadd Buyers that use fake funds, stolen cards, photo copy MO's.

edit in more:
Dufus Dickwadd Buyers that buy yours and claim its not what you told them and return their broken that looks just like yours?

edit in more:

Dufus Dickwadd Buyers that buy really expensive and steal it out of the truck at an ealier stop?

oh what else?

I have an issue with a Dufus Dickwadd Buyers going on currently as we speak!

I sold him a great, GREAT cisco asa 5510, he took out the motherboard and put in his broken POS!

I really have no problem with any of that othe stuff on your list because I earned a great living for 10 years from 1991-2001 shipping my product every day.

It's  Dufus Dickwadd Buyers I don't like, can you tell?

Sorry Jeff that is a real bummer.  After trying to sell blue on ebay I read about people who do as you describe swaping out internal components in electronics bad for good.  I don't think I would bothet trying to sell electronics.

My app idea would be for members only that are in good standing making a contribution.  I am quite contest to leave all the criminals right where they are.

It is sad some people make a living ripping othets off and eBay s rules protect the wrong doers.

I voted Chewie...packaging...seems like motorcycle parts just don't ever want to fit into a normal box, especially USPS's priority mail ones.  I have sold a lot of parts here, not so many recently.  I can't be bothered with ebay, it is just too complicated and a hassle to use.  I don't even like buying stuff on ebay.
If it works good, it looks good...

I chose "Taking the time to get shipping quotes", I normally dont even do it. I just estimate it and seems I'm almost always wrong - too low.

Oh well, I'm a better buyer than seller!

PS. Have you heard of the selling app 5miles?  Seems similar to what you have in mind.

Cars and car parts are a huge category in the app.  Very very interesting.

What if there was a 5 mile app just for vintage motorcycle parts?  Would you use it.  If you could get dibs on any part listed what would it be worth to you?

Also you probably did not know this but a group of Chinese investors are the ones who are funding 5mile.  Maybe they can hear the Ebay death rattle. ha,ha,ha

I would consider using it, but I'd bet no one within 5 miles has more SOHC parts than me!

I know little little about the app, it just came to mind when I saw this thread.

As you know, I'm trying not to buy!

How's that not buying thing working out for you? ha,ha,ha  As for what is really available who knows I beat you would be surprised if we could get a big enough user base.

It could be up to a 40% savings not having to pay Ebay fees.  No packing or dealing with flakes.  Sounds like seller heaven.
