I know it’s been mentioned in other threads but considering the topic is CB550 Exhaust Options it bears repeating. Ripple Rock Racing (forum member Kemp) has been working with Hindle Racing to product top drawer stainless steel exhaust systems for vintage motorcycles. The fit and finish is second to none. Headers are designed to facilitate unobstructed access to the oil filter and have spring loaded slip joints where needed to eliminate stress. I'm also a fan of welded primary tubes. I think welded primaries will ensure consistent tube alignment over time.

Stainless steel exhaust systems have become very popular recently and for good reason. Stainless steel has excellent corrosion resistance, is readily available in a variety of dimensions is affordable and does NOT require expensive chrome. This last point is one of the biggest reasons stainless exhausts have become so common but stainless has a unique behaviour when exposed to hot exhaust gasses. Yellowing!

Unlike chrome, stainless steel exhausts will tint to a soft gold colour over time. It doesn't take that long to notice the change and will become more acute over time. IMO polished stainless steel ages more gracefully. For this reason I'm not a fan of wire brushed stainless headers and take the time to polish.

This is the one that sold me on it. I will try to get one uploaded because the short muffler sounds awesome. Takes care of the plap plap open exhaust sound but grumbles on decel and has a nice strong sound all around.

ETA: Jimmy I agree. The stainless on mine has already turned a light gold at the curve of the headers where most of the heat is. It looks very nice IMO. Would I have wanted to sink more money into this thing I would have gone with a ripple rock over most any other option, but the delkevic fit my budget and I cant say I am anything but impressed at this point. Oil filter comes out no problem, pipes are all solid where I put them. Only thing is the center stand stop allows my center stand to just barely contact my chain, but I think some adjustment will take care of that.

which of these exhausts allow mounting a centre stand?
i gather the delkevic does with possibly some adjustment, how about hindle?

I guess it depends on what muffler you use with the Delkevic headed.  My homemade exhaust pipe (with a Carpy baffle) allows the center stand to be used.

By the way... I tried looking for that straight exhaust pipe that you said you got from Delkevic and I can not find it on there website.  Any ideas as to where to look?

I was going to order the megaphone one on ebay and noticed the straight muffler. Decided I liked it better. Working on uploading some videos to youtube. Here is a pic in the mean time.

My MotoGP Werks exhaust made some noise for the first time in 2016 today. Sorry Stev-o, but I don't think it will ever be for sale. Sounds absolutely amazing between 6000 & 9500 revs.

Im running an older Jardine 4into2 and love it. Not too loud but deep tone I dont have a video yet.  You can still use the centerstand too. Not sure how easy these are to find anymore.
