CB550F1 Fork Advice
« on: April 05, 2016, 12:05:52 AM »
G'day, reposting from the Projects forum after rocs (thanks) suggested I might get a quicker response here.

Have attached a picture of the two fork lowers on my CB550. The left fork leg has the caliper mounting holes, right fork has none. From my limited understanding I thought both legs should be able to take calipers. If so, have I got one leg from another model, CB500 maybe? Any complications I need to be aware of? I'm about to send the tubes off to have the hard chroming re-done, but don't want to waste money if I need to source a new right side.

Thanks

Can't comment on the brake caliper mounts but if the chrome is pooched you're better off replacing the fork tubes. No guarantee re-chromed tubes will have the correct bushing clearance.

Thanks. There is a supplier of Tarozzi tubes locally. They carry most of the early CB tubes, except the 550 of course. Will the 500 tubes (51500-323-315) swap in? Alternatively I can get a complete dual caliper front end off a CB750F2 for about the same price. Anyone know if this will work with the frame and spoked hub on the CB550?
Cheers
