Topic: 1977 CB 550F muffler question

Hi there

I'd like to swap my stock CB 550F muffler for something a bit louder. The 4 into 1 stock pipes are installed on my bike and the header outlet is 60 mm in diameter (2,36") which is pretty wide for a lot of aftermarket mufflers. Has anyone here installed a muffler like this on the stock 4-1 header? Is 2 1/2" enough to fit over the header outlet? I don't really want to alter anything in the bike because I want to be able to just swap exhausts again (for inspection).

Keep the header. Go to cone engineering and buy the 12" megaphone.  You won't be disappointed.

Lol, I didn't click your links. Cone engineering make the one you have shown from DCC. They simply mark it up.

Yep. Cone Engineering makes that muffler, and DCC just sells it for more money.

Vintage old stock yoshimura stub can ftw.  It just howls, I love it.

Finally got to hear it echo in the canyon outside Carbonado a few weeks back.  It sounded like a pack of wolves!

Measure your collector's outlet size, then get the appropriate cone direct from CE. Be sure to buy a bracket, too.
