I saw that somewhere! It was pretty cool! Lacked the 4 banger note though.

What a lean machine!!!! Wow that cornering!

How did the motor mount up?  Looks real tight in there.

Hell, I almost want to get a 550F frame and build a cb-ninja of my own now!

Hey, are you starting a new "Bullsh1t" thread Chewy? When I first saw the subject, I thought you were talking about a Triumph Rocket III and I thought, "what a load of crap, each of the cylinders in my Rocket III has more cc's than a CB750!" I'm still trying to work out which modern sports bike couldn't keep up with a CB750 though, are you sure it wasn't a scooter? ;D
How do you like that rocket? I hear it's a monster.

G'Day mate, well yep, I love the Rocket III, it's the fastest accelerating bike I've ever owned, and is just awesome, in a straight line at least. I bought it from my brother (who sadly passed away last week) in 2009, he bought it new in 2007 but found it somewhat overwhelming after a 30-odd year separation from motorcycles, so he rode it home from the shop, parked it in the garage, and when I collected it two years later, the odometer hadn't quite clicked over 20 miles.

I installed a Jardine exhaust, Power Commander III and K&N filter then took it to Melbourne Triumph to have it dynotuned, and it makes 141 BHP and 147 ft ibs of torque at the rear wheel. I also own a Subaru Liberty (Legacy in the US) B4 with two turbo's, one of them (the smaller primary turbo) isn't making much boost so I've bought a new one which I'll fit this weekend. Not wanting to throw a perfectly good turbo away, I think I'll get it reconditioned and install it on the Rocket............ ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I passed a crotch rocket going about 110!  The rocket didn't know what the heck was going on.  He tried to catch me on my 750, but was unable to keep up.  So much fun.
He should have turned around! ;)

That's terrible terry. Very sorry to hear. On a positive note, that is a sick amount of hp to the wheel. Does it really try to throw you off the bike when you rev it? I've heard that it bucks to the side. Very cool! I was looking at the new thunderbird lt the other day at a dealer. Freaking beautiful bike. Most comfortable factory seat I've ever seen. Triumph is doing things right!

Thanks mate, nope, the power is very linear, reminds me a bit of riding a Goldwing or a "K" series BMW, but the "rush" is phenomenal, with a 0-60 under 3 seconds, there's not much that'll get past it, and it's fun blowing away Casey Stoner wannabe's in their skin tight leathers at the lights, they just can't comprehend a massive cruiser (it's longer than my GL1200 Interstate) kicking their arses! ;D

My father-in-law sold his Boss Hoss (350 Chevy) about 5 years ago.  He said he was sick of going through rear tires so fast.  The problem was, he couldn't say no when somebody would ask him for a burnout.

You are correct about being ok on a straight line.  His was built before they came out with the huge, rounded profile rear tires.... so it was equipped with a car tire.  I don't recall the size.  But, for obvious reasons.... without the rounded rear tire, it was scary as hell around a corner.

My ported 836 can keep up with any Triumph Bonneville/Thruxton, but it will not burn a modern middle-weight.

It should be able to beat these bikes! They almost match our 750s in hp. For a whole lot more $

I keep seeing what I am now calling the silver bullet due to the full aluminum fairing.  I think it is the same bike that I passed going about about 120 mph.  Turns out he lives in the neighborhood just a few houses down.

So for the past few days he has been going to the school yard right across my house revving up his engine.  Think he wants rematch.  This is toy bike either.

I may have to give him a proper butt whipping again.

No idea.  It is beautiful though.  Never seen a brightly polished aluminum fairing like that before.  I would be afraid of getting cooked like a hotdog being as white as I am.

I should pay attention run to the end of my driveway tomorrow and chat him up a bit.  Maybe he will let me take a picture.

Only time I have seen metal work like that is that old dude on youtube who handmakes aluminum tanks and fairings.  Has to have some serious $$$ into that.

lol  That's pretty funny, but for some reason that story made me think of this...kinda feeling like John Cusack Chewie?

Anyway, the other day I was out riding my vf500 and ended up at a stop light next to a dude on some big 1200cc honkin jap cruiser.  The speed limit was 55 and there was plenty of open road, so when I got green I let the mini-ceptor rip.  At the next light here he was again.  This time I could tell he was ready to race. On green, I let him leave first, and then hole shotted him.  He did not catch back up until I lifted off the throttle.  We end up at a third red light side by side.  He looks over and asks,  "What size is that bike?"  I watched his face turn to fustration and disgust when I told him "Its a 500".  "Dang, its pretty fast" he said.  "Yeah, old too."  I answered.
If it works good, it looks good...
