1976 CB750F cafe build is finally finished
« on: July 10, 2016, 06:59:10 PM »
so after almost exactly a year, this project is finally finished. Rode it all day today, high speed runs, twisties, around town. So much fun to ride!

Huge thank you to all of you who helped me through the way. Couldn't have done it without all of you. Here's some pics:

Thanks a lot guys! Very happy with it.

so after riding it all day yesterday, there's just one thing bugging me:

when I was on some higher speed roads, I look down at the front wheel and i can see it wobbling a little bit side to side at the tire / very outside of the rim. I have comstars by the way - not spokes.

At first I was worried the axle was coming loose or I didn't install the wheel bearings correctly, so I pulled over. I felt zero side to side play anywhere. Everything felt snug and the axle not coming apart or anything.

Started riding again, and noticed the brake rotor is dead straight all the way up to 50mph +. That would be wobbling as well if it were an axle / hub issue right?

I'm not getting any vibration through the bars and the bike is tracking perfectly straight.

What could be causing this? Incorrect balancing when the tire was put on?

Tire build mold outta whack? Re-install the tire for a better seat?

Love the silver engine. Much better looking than black with that paint.

The bike look really good! The F model is the best  CB750 for this type of build.

Thanks a lot guys! I need to have the rear tube replaced anyways since the valve stem broke the first time I went to fill it up  >:(

so I think I'll just take both wheels in and have them double check bead and balance

Tonight I'm going to change the oil and filter since I've been going off what the previous owner put in

Thanks buddy. I had the comstars powder coated in an anodized silver color. As close to stock as possible.

I dig it.  Good color too.   You can try deflating the front tire and kinda pinch around it and reinflate it to see if that helps set the bead again.
Yep, I'm the kid that figured out how to put things back together...eventually.
