cb750 timeline Q? Black top shocks?

 It seems like I've seen a timeline that shows the time or approximate serial numbers  when changes were made. Of course I can't seem to find one. For instance, when did they go from 3 position rear shocks to 5 position shocks? Sandcast, K0 or newer?

Can't answer your 750 question, but my original '72 CB500K1 has 3 position shocks.

5 position shocks started with the K3 (1973) frame and engine no 2200001 onwards.

 OK then, the 3 position shocks I have are possibly original to my K1. Thank you. Or as they say on Ebay  SANDCAST!

Are they black eyes (tops) ?
I know Ko used black tops, not sure when it changed...

Nope, aluminum. I haven't seen black top shocks around here. I do have a set of black ones that look like DOHC shocks. I'm hoping they are worthwhile aftermarket.

Sandie,K0 and K1 shocks had black tops and the inner was black.

 I'll be, my sandie has black top shocks. How could I not have noticed that?  And a chrome cover over the spring.
