1979 Honda CB650 ninja carb issues
« on: November 25, 2016, 02:53:15 PM »
Hi,
I have a 1979 Honda CB650 with ZL600 eliminator (same as ninja) carbs on it. I cannot seem to get it to stop pissing fuel everywhere! Stock float height for ZL600 is 17mm. I have tried that, all the way up to 22mm and still gas pours out of the air jet at the front of the carb. I have cleaned the carbs, replaced float needles, same issue. Floats float and do not have gas inside. I am out of ideas. Anyone have any good advise?
Thanks!

clear tube method? all of them leaking or just one?

I only say this because I have seen it done once before.....have you accidentally used the overflow tubes as fuel feed from the petcock? those carbs should have the "tee"s for the fuel hoses lower on the rack than the overflows, but both look very similar and I've seen them confused in the past.

Tower,

Out of curiosity, did you need to adjust the rack spacing on the Kawasaki CV carburetors or use different manifolds?

im using the same (should be CVK 34 or 32 ) without issues in a gpz550.... excellent carbs.

i hope you are not using the downdraft version of later zx6r with the diagonal bowl cut... those would woverflow if mounted horizontal

sure the feed is to the T in the middle! but with that sorted, not muck rocket science in it. take them out of the bike, dissmount the bowls, place them above a big container, feed fuel to the tee and one by one press the floats to see valves are stoping flow ....

if all ok then they need good seals for the bowls too
