Last Wednesday I rode all afternoon into the evening to bike night. Had some sprinkles going home.
This morning I awoke to 8" snow.

It's been dark,moist/damp and cold here for a month  :( like it was for me back East and my neck and joints are feeling-it.  ::)

My old Volvo did still have heat, defrost(clogged heater box:big job) & power steering & tail/stoplights back then..  ::) Can't afford to get those things fixed now, plus the car's body has been rotting from the inside-out with lot's of rust around the windshield letting salt(in the past)and water down in through it ever since I bought it 25 years ago;she still runs good.
I'm glad there's no snow or salt on the roads here.
I'm considering purchasing a no-rust 1992' Volvo 240 sedan(mine is a NorthEast-rust 87' model)out West here and swap my good parts from the 87' into it.

I remember when it was sunny dry and warm, even in the Winter here:I hope that weather returns so I can go out to the parking lot and work on my bikes in comfort(I'll take 48+degrees,dry & sunny),but I'll just take it easy until the sun returns.

Our driveway is all down hill from the house. I move the Volvo C30 to the shed for the winter and bring the old truck up to the attached double garage at the house. It stays warm and dry and is aimed down the hill when needed. I start with one long push all the way down and out the gate. With a clear path to back up, no real need for chains. The tires are ancient but have a deep mud/snow tread. I also load a wooden rack in the back of the bed with eight large, heavy concrete blocks!

Fingers crossed! That picture is 2-3 years ago and it’s suffered a bit since then.

As we say in Texas, "If you dont like the weather, just wait a bit"!  It will be 70 by Wednesday, much better.

Was 2 degrees(F.) at my house last midnight...working on a cb750k4 right now that came from Alaska.  The previous owner lived in Alaska for the summer and would spend the winter in Michigan's upper peninsula...real "cool" guy!

Steve….. we’re doing our “whole Family” ski trip in mid January this year. Looks like we’ll have plenty of snow. We head North to a great local resort, “Sir Sam’s”. There are two ski chalets actually on the hills and this year, for the first time, we managed to book one. We’ll all be able to ski off the front veranda!

Ski-in/out accommodations are the best!

I recall one family ski trip to Telluride, CO a few years back.   We rented a condo, it was just across the street from the chairlift and a 10 min walk to the historic Downtown area, didn't drive the 4Runner the entire time we were there...perfect.

Plenty of snow to ski here in Oshkosh. 2 days ago we had 9 inches on top of about 4. Tomorrow they are predicting -35 wind chills which will close schools which were closed 2 days ago from that snow. Last year we had no snow through New Year's. Merry Christmas all...

We had rain that removed most of the snow but the snow gods replaced it with a few more inches. It's good for ground water levels and pond water, there isn't much if any frost in the ground. We are seeing some water main breaks though, so the ground is moving around a bit, all three son-in laws were called out on overtime repairs this week, two Plumbers and a Lineman.

Today was sunny and right around the freezing mark. Dug out all our gear and gave the biddings the ritual “clean and lube”. The ski club a few miles south of us officially opens tomorrow. They are reporting a 12” base which is a great beginning. They usually have to make a lot of snow to open by Christmas. We’ll get down there next week for a “warm up”. Merry Christmas Johnnie!

Here in balmy west central illinois we're expecting a high of -2F tomorrow and the wind chill is -20F right now. My garage is staying warm, I wedged the overhead doors a little tighter to the door frame, I have the heat set on 55.
The house furnace is staying off for a while between cycles, I guess it's fairly tight. This is when I'm glad I'm no longer on call for plumbing service. The leaks begin when it gets a little warmer.
