Here in balmy west central illinois we're expecting a high of -2F tomorrow and the wind chill is -20F right now. My garage is staying warm, I wedged the overhead doors a little tighter to the door frame, I have the heat set on 55.
The house furnace is staying off for a while between cycles, I guess it's fairly tight. This is when I'm glad I'm no longer on call for plumbing service. The leaks begin when it gets a little warmer.

Don….. My shop roll up door “rattles” in the wind…… where do  wooden wedges go? I’m guessing between te track and the inner door face? I must try this, makes perfect sense!

High winds tonight with single digit temps, not normal this early in the winter here in Virginia. Also throw in two measurable snowfalls so far.   All of my old parts (which is all of them) hurt like hell.......

Yes, anywhere I could see light through the seals. I'll snap a pic when I'm out there later. We went to a Christmas school program at 2*F and it was a packed house, I guess we're a hardier bunch than I thought we were.  We all went to lunch afterwards.

We're above freezing right now, it's expected to rain and be in the 40's F. Woo Hoo! A 50* temperature swing.

Calling for 50 degrees tomorrow and rain, time to break out the "Speedo" for this 76 year old beat up body.  I have no idea why the neighbors never visit during the Holidays.......

Here is a pic of my not so patented garage door tightener-upper.

It's not a slicer, it's not a dicer, it's the door tightener upper by Donco! It's genuine left-over wood shim stock so don't accept imitations.
Applied under the hinge where it can fall out is likely a safer location in case you forget and hit the opener.

I wanted to get the GS11 out, the door stopped at half way. OOops! I put the shims back to where they're more likely to fall out lol.

Today it's going to be in the mid 50*F and rain has washed the road salt away. I'm riding a motorcycle to the barber shop.

10-12” of fresh snow last night! Nice and light and I have a great layer of ice on our gravel driveway. I can drop the skids off the 8’ blade and NOT move any dirt. The old truck was awesome and did I it all BEFORE the township plowed the road. This is a real bonus as I can leave a mess outside our gate and the huge plow (with a massive wing) sends it all flying to the opposite ditch. He’s incredibly skilled and never blocks the driveways…..

We only got about  5" fresh powder last night as it was 11° F as it snowed. I walked the 1/8 mile to the post office this morning and my face froze walking there into the 5 mph North wind from Canada. I had a new euro length clutch cable waiting for me. Not too bad walking back away from the wind.

Bill….. He’s very good. Slows right down and flips the wing forward (for a second) and manages not to block up the laneway as he goes past. My wife gives him fresh baking 2-3 time every winter and the neighbours just can’t figure it out!

Southern Ontario has another ice storm. We’ve been without power since last night. Outages all over the province. Generator is running and the old “Findley Oval” cook stove is blasting away….. The +100 year old solution is still the best.

We got the same storm late yesterday into last night, and for once we didn't loose power, its raining now. Then the rest of the week is going to be cold, highs only in the low twenties and single digit lows. Welcome to winter...

Yesterday afternoon rain pouring down, my street was flooded
At 11pm I went outside 61F
This morning the wind was howling, 14000 out of power and climbing, all of the lake boats are huddled in bays.
Just now at 11am it’s snowing.

We are in the eye of this big storm. I’ve been told this one was the one that caused flooding in SoCal.
