He said it was a 750 seat, but it is possible he was wrong about that since he didn't build the bike. The seat was a bit too long (the back overlapped the tail light bracket slightly), which is why I believed it was for a 750.

Do you have the molds and other parts needed to make a 550 seat?

The seat molds, yes. But the extra width would require another mold for the seat foam and they are very expensive to make. So, we have not pursued 500/550 seats... RR

Well, you could do that, Danny. But it would be expensive and a duplication of effort. I already have the molds for exactly the same thing...

Okay, let's put this to rest: If anyone wants one of the Giuliari repro seats and is willing to pay half of the price up front as a deposit, I'm go back into production. Note: I only make the seats that will fit the 1972-1976 stock CB750K chassis. They can fit the 69-71 if you bolt on a later seat lock receiver. These are a perfect bolt-on replacement for the original Honda seat.

I need at least three paid orders to bother (they're expensive to make and way too much work!) but under those circumstances, I'll resurrect the program. Just let me know. Figure on completion taking about three weeks or less if I can do that. Lemme know.

Ted

What would the cost be Ted?   I dont have an immediate need but would be a nice piece to have on the shelf for an upcoming project...

Steve, unless my upholsterer has raised his prices in the last six months (again!) I'll be able to get them out for $350. If you want one, let me know; I'm starting a list.

G'Day Ted, it looks like the CB750K2 cafe Racer I built for a guy might be coming back to me. (I hope it does) It's got a genuine NOS (well it was when I bought it) Giuliari seat on it, but the foam has gone crumbly and the cover has probably shrunk, so what would a new foam and cover cost? The base is fine. Cheers, Terry. ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

While we are on the topic of seats my original cb350f is developing a small tear and I was wondering what you guys thought I could do to fix it.  The seat isn't extremely tight so I thought I could buy one o thosef little vinyl repair kits or use some e6000 glue as a butterfly stitch.

Or if it's toast..

There's a guy in town that said he can put a hump on the back of my original seat to make it look more cafe. So I'm guessing he would put a new cover on it anyway.

Yeah, it's pretty far gone, Steve. The vinyl has gotten stiff as well as rotten. Fortunately, there is better vinyl out there these days. We use a UV resistant high-grade marine material. If you're gonna spend the money for a custom cover, don't cheap out on the material...

Is it really gone? I really don't want to have to get a new seat yet  :'(
I would want to buy some glue and hold it together and let it dry.
I feel that could work

Ted,

If you need another buyer to justify a new run of seats, count me in for one.  I'll compare it to my original.

Thanks, George. I'll start putting all the components and services for the production process together soon. It looks like there may be sufficient interest to justify doing a run...

Pay no attention to those "Negative Nancy's" mate, if you can get your hands on some of this magical product, you can do "almost invisible" repairs or even make your own Giuliari seat! ;D

Sounds good.

I certainly don't NEED another seat, but I appreciate your effort to put together a quality product against the backdrop of cheap low grade seats otherwise available.

I'm curious, do your seats retain the storage compartment in the hump like the original Giuliari version?

No, George, out seat humps are open on the bottom. It would have been significantly more complicated and expensive to build a locking compartment with a hinged door. RR

I figured as much. No biggie, it is a neat feature though.  Perhaps I will modify a new one to include a locker.
