Paint scheme help
« on: May 16, 2017, 05:43:53 PM »
Hello,  I'm in the middle of a 750 tank and cover restoration.  The set is going to be cherry red.  Should I go OE scheme or black side with small white border pin like the one pictured??   Place your vote.

I'm personally a fan of the latter. I dig the gold white stripe around the black.

I personally like the top picture, but would add the gold stripe, equal width as it will separate the colors better, and be an "homage" to the more traditional scheme. Best of both worlds  :)

I like the top one better as well, but like Cal mentioned it needs something.  As it sits right now it is just a lot of dead black space.  I would take the size of the white stripe on the bottom and use it on the top.  I would also use the gold stripe in the same size as the white.  You get the best of both and everything looks uniform.

Thin gold to match the width of the white and the space between the two stripes the same width as the stripes themselves.

Here is what my painter did.  We wanted to capture the style of the stock decal with this custom paint job.  I hope the picture is properly oriented.
