Moto GP Werks exhuast - who's fitted one?
« on: September 27, 2017, 12:46:17 PM »
Hello

I bought a Moto GP Werks exhaust for my CB750 K2 ages ago and don't remember what mounting hardware came with it.

Who has fitted one please and what did you use?

I can't find any gaskets or bolts where I stored the exhaust. I can only find springs.

Thanks for your time
Scott

Hey Scott....yes, I mounted one a few months ago on my K3 "Park Racer". There is a flange that mounts to the head and then the pipes slip over it and is secured with the spring...

I dont remember if it came with the SS socket head screws, dont think so, I prolly picked them up local.

Mounting it was rather simple and quick, I had no issues.
Hope that helps, let me know if you have any questions.

Sweet as. Thanks guys.

I have new crush gaskets on the way. I should be able to organise some bolts pretty easy too.

Then support the tail pipe.

Cal - I know you always recomend this but I havent done it...sorry!
There is nowhere good to mount it and honestly, dont think it is necessary.

One of the nice features of the phlanges is that you do not have to replace the copper crush washers after installation of the phlanges -- just remove the springs to remove the header.

I agree with Cal about a support mount for the tail end of the pipe.  It's no small amount of weight being hung on the head, with lots of road bumps and undulations.  That could ultimately result in metal fatigue at the 40-year-old exhaust spigots.  I suppose you could get away without it, but I don't like to risk it.  I had a hanger fabbed for mine.
