Did you paint last weekend?  I’m curious how you liked the Duplicolor compared to the VHT.

I did not.  Finished prep, was ready to spray, shook can for a couple min and depressed spray button and nothing!  Not sure what the deal was but don't like Duplicolor at all right now.

OK, after a 9 month break, I am back!   Been devoting more that a fair share of time to the '70 Corvette, I restored the interior:  dash, console, gauge bezels and rebuilt the seats with new foam and leather covers.  New Alpine audio system too!

And then the wifey was riding me to finish the master bath renovation, so been working on that the last two months.  I demo'd the old floor tile and shower down to the studs, then laid new travertine flooring and marble on the walls. I brought in a guy to help with the shower as I've never done one and didnt want it to leak, my master bath is on the second floor.
All in all, we are very pleased with the results but spent too much money on high end tile. And holy crap, frameless glass shower enclosures are expensive! I paid $1400 to get the glass done.

With all that behind me, I can stay focused on getting this fiddy dolla special back together.

Yes, I painted it Ron and used the VHT, I'd say it's the same.

So I had brought the frame to off site storage since the project had stalled, brought it home yesterday and proceeded to install the motor with the "lay it on it's side" method.
It really cannot be easier...

So here is where I am at, motor is in the frame.   I need to locate and organize the parts I have for this bike and see what I need.  I plan to do at least a little every day to keep this project rolling.  Except for a week vacation next month to the Caribbean!

Oh, and I stocked the frig in the shop to make sure I dont run out of beverages!
Luckily, the temps are not frigid like you guys Up North, it's a balmy 59 degrees in the shop.

Laying the frame over the engine really works well, I did that as well. After watching the struggles others have it makes sense unless you have a great overhead crane like Markb has for his #97 restoration.
Kudos on the home improvement, I'm starting on my kitchen.
I'm making the cabinets first, demolition after they are all made.

Nice job on the bath, I have the same scenario here, I hope tile isn't hard to learn.  If a bike won't do, a vette seems like a good backup.  We ARE advised to diversify!  Glad you're back on the bike for now, we appreciate a good build  to follow.

It's looking good Stev-O! I feel you on the home improvement front. We just bought a house a few months ago and I can't tell you how long it's been since I've turned a wrench. It's terrible!! LOL Looking forward to seeing this one get buttoned up. The Corvette looks great too! Rick.

I started on my kitchen. I'm building all the cabinets first, before I make a mess. I'm making doors for cabinets from mahogany 1 x 2's.

Ok, I'm back at it.

Spent a week down on the island of Barbados, beautiful place, but drank way too much Mt Gay Rum!

View from Hotel room...

Bathsheba Beach on the East coast...

Upon my return, I took delivery of this '68 Firebird, bought it for my good friend on eBay for his collection. It came from Marina del Ray, seller is a famous Hollywood producer!
Of course, I had to "test drive" it, so it stayed in my possession for two weeks while he was in Mexico.  It passed!!    Has a 400 Ram Air with Hurst 4spd...

Ok, back to the K6, I have a "roller"!!

Buttoned up the left side with polished covers I had on the shelf...

Ordered and installed All Balls tapered head bearings, with the thin washer it comes with. Went to install the triple and it does not come up high enough.
Cautiously hammered the race to be sure they were fully seated, still not good.
Removed the thin washer and it still is not correct, the triple stops do not come into contact with the stops on the frame. WTF?!!

I confirmed I bought the correct bearings [22-1011] and fairly certain that the triple I'm using came off this bike, I had another triple laying around and it is the same.

I've done the bearing conversion before, never an issue. Take a look at these pics, what do you think?

Bearing is down as far as possible...

...but the stops do not touch.  WTF?!!

It looks like the inner race is extra thick, I wish I had photos of my triple before installation. It looks like you are lower by the amount of the lower race that protrudes below the bearing cage. Could it be an incorrect bearing in spite of the part number being correct? Anyone got any pictures of uninstalled bearings to compare with?

That jetty looks productive. You do any real fishing down there or are you one of those bait type guys?

Steve, is it possible the lower part of the triple is for a different year? I'm not quite sure if they differ in length but it could be?

I just did mine and that washer looks like it is the thick one. I used the thinner one and it worked fine.

Ok, I'm back at it!  No excuses, just been doing other stuff. I did get the triple figured out, honestly I dont even remember what the issue was at this point.  Well, I have a true roller now, sorry for the dark pic, just took it and wanted to get this update out...

Got the front end all buttoned up including this cheapo guages I bought a couple years ago ...

HAd this Kerker in the rafters of the Batcave, thought it might look good on da Fiddy dolla Special!

Fabbed up this bracket for the back of the Kerker, dont like the one Kerker sells, it goes from the pipe to the top shock mount - ugly.  This one was simple and will be effective...

Add $25 for metal and hardware.

Next up: front brake, need to dig through my boxes and see what I have. Stay tuned...

Nice Kerker!  Makes me jealous that yours still has the Kerker emblem.  I have had want ads up for years now for a replacement. (along with several others joining in on at least 2 different forums)  Some bootlegger needs to cast these up!  I'll stop crying now.

Nice Kerker!

It's not perfect, has minor scratches on the bottom that really cant be seen.  It came to me on a K5 that I bought, took it off when I sold it, wanted to reuse it on one of my bikes.

Hey guys...I've been bad about updating this thread but work has been ongoing in these trying times.
I am "hardly working" remotely at home due to the Virus, but it is just too easy to pop out to the garage to turn a wrench or two!

The Fiddy-dolla Special is mostly all buttoned up, motor mounts installed [I has to source hardware], front brake installed, back wheel aligned and tightened and a basic "nut and bolt" check on everything else.

Now for my favorite part: wiring!   Not always easy for one that is color blind!  Guess I can thank my Dad for passing that down to me but he also got me into bikes as a young teen, so I cant hold it against him.

The main wiring harness is installed and I've found all of the necessary electrical components on the shelf.
I also have a good set of carbs that will go on the bike.
So, after two years and all kinds of starts and stops, I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel! Couldn't resist popping of the tank and seat just to see how it will look.

Here is how she currently sits...
