I bought a Polaris Indian Scout.
« on: February 25, 2018, 07:34:31 AM »
I needed something to take the load off of my 550, and I've wanted an Indian since I can remember. I looked at a few 111" Chiefs but none of them panned out. I went to look at one at a used dealership and the guy acted like the bike was laced with gold, but it had been dropped even though he insisted it wasn't. After reading a lot of reviews and to talking to other owners I decided that with the leather bags and apes the scout was more bike for the money. Then I walked into a dealership where I found a green 2018 being prepped in the back. Hadn't even hit the showroom yet. I've only ridden it on one 50 mile trip since purchasing it and I have to say with solidarity that this is the most exciting cruiser I have ever been on.  It's fast, nimble, and comfortable (for me, with the miniapes). I can't wait for summer.

I love looking at the engine.  The cylinder head covers are just so right!

Congrats on your new ride. Sounds like the old 550 is going to be taking a 'looong' snooze.

Lol thanks. I don't think it's going to snooze that long. I hope to still take it out occasionally. I was riding that 550 like it was a brand new bike and there's nothing wrong with that, but I was tired of having to fix stuff all the time. This thing is turn the key and go... are least for a while.

Well I must say after buying a newer Suzuki Bandit 1200 and a GSX1100G its kind of nice to ride a new bike with real brakes and suspension and a little more oomph under the hood  ;)

Congrats on the new purchase.

I am wondering if and when Indian will bring to market its "tribute" bike the Scout Flat Track Racer, inspired by the AMA flat track bike.  Even though it has the stock Scout 1200 engine, and not the 750 race motor, it's still a great looking bike.  Something more sporting and standard to expand the brand.

It's only a matter of time. I have to say this engine makes plenty of power. It's like a buell xb engine on steroids.

I was trying to hold off for a 2020 model which I'm hoping will be special for the anniversary of the scout but it'll just have some flair. I doubt it'll be a full redesign.

Nice one there. Good to see Indian back in the mix of things. Enjoy that one, as I am sure you will.
