I would vote for Tuscon also. It has some nice mountains, and the climate is way better than Phoenix.

My views of Phoenix's peak summer heat...
THAT'S Funny... but true!

Few years ago we drove from Tombstone to Grand Canyon in July.  I remember Flagstaff being a Summer paradise compare to Tombstone.

We also hiked GC.  Up on top, the temperature was very friendly - and 100F on the bottom.  Still, great area, wish to do more - like hike from the North edge to the South Edge of GC.

word is that ayers rock,or Uluru as others would prefer to call it is going to be hollowed out and become a spent uranium receptacle as it has a certain quality of radiation rejection about its natural composite?

We lived in Prescott for 14 years.  I only drove to Phoenix for flights and shows, and both experiences were nearly ruined by the extreme heat and the extreme traffic every time.  It absolutely blows my mind that any person would want to live down there and yet there are 14 billion people living there.  LOL

Tucson is a great town with access to mountains and cooler temps.  It's something of an oasis, though.

Flagstaff is a wonderful town, but the political climate is very left-leaning and I don't know where you stand on that.  We moved out of Arizona primarily because of the political climate ourselves.

Keep in mind as you choose a place that the climate now will differ significantly from the climate in another 10-20 years.

OK guys, I live in England so can't comment on taxes or cost of living but I did look into weather requirements before embarking on a drag racing career in the States.
In the West, Earthquakes, Wild Fires and the occasional Volcanic eruption if you are far enough north.
In the North, to much snow and Ice, far more than I am are used to in England.
In the East, depending on how far South you are, there is still snow to contend with and the odd Hurricane coming along the coast from the South.
In the South and I did live there for a while in the early 80s, much to hot and the Hurricane season to deal with.
In the middle bit and it is a BIG bit, haha, Tornado Ally.
And then what about the wild life, I din't fancy being eaten by a wolf, Alligator, Mountain Lion or Grizzly Bear.
With all this in mind, I was thinking along the lines of North Georgia.
All this and I haven't even got a bike to ride so I make inquiries and find one in Florida.
I fly over and pick it up and start the long ride up to Boston MA to get is sorted.
So where did it break down, you've guessed it, Georgia.
Enter Bill Benton who dragged my sorry ass up to Atlanta and as a lot of you know, the rest is like me, HISTORY.

I didn't pick North Georgia, it picked me, haha.

Sam. ;)

Yes Frank. The bike gave up at Valdosta so I jumped on line and asked could anyone help.
Bill drove about 225 miles after work to pick me up with his trailer.
On the drive back to just North of Atlanta, Sam Green Racing and BentOnRacing merged, and what a great partnership it was. Thanks a million Bill Benton for a lot of happy memories.

Tornado alley? In 65 years here in Illinois I've only seen 5 or 6 and only had one in my yard and one across the street. It was blowing rain in three sides of my garage at the same time. I'd say not Illinois.
