I have a mild Andrews in a RC 836 and I believe the spec sheet said both the intake and exhaust was .004. If I can find it I will post it,been a long time since I have fiddled with it or saw the paperwork.

That could be it. Don't worry about it now, I got something below that making noise.
Either a piston or a rod. Looks like I got some work to do.

Are valve clearances determined solely on cam manufacturer guidelines, or are there other considerations?

They give recommended clearance,  but I don't have that in front of me.
Some change from that fearing large clearances. Myself , I trust the cam makers know what works and what doesnt.

.004? They list 500/550/650 but I don't see 750 on the chart? It is listed as "A" however. And ALL the listed cams are .004 intake and exhaust

That page is linked under "750"

The CB750 cams are listed under wrong subject 550/650.
The cam names can not be mistaken!
I would like to try a D cam. Numbers not far from RC295. I wonder how the lobes look like ;)

Maybe Andrews have a pile of forgotten CB750 cams in an old store house?
