Just wondering, I know it depends on the state, but just how hard is it to get a title? What a find! I would also go out and but a lottery ticket while you are on this roll!!

Kevin,

That's a great find.  I usually stay away from bikes or anything with no title but I would have jumped on that deal.  Incredible!!!!  Please don't ebay it.  That bike is definitely a keeper!

Congratulations and ENJOY!

There is no information on the WI DMV website about obtaining a title. What you need to do is get a hold of someone in the Research and Information Dept. Phone is 608-266-1466.

When sending in the info you need:

Completed MV-1 Form
Written Statement of how you obtained the bike
Proof of ownership from previous owner (I have got by without this one)
A signed bill of sale
Photo of the bike
Have the VIN signed off by a police officer

Some of these things have specific forms that they can send you.

Then you wait. Sometimes for a few months.

A title is is a document that shows proof of ownership. Comes in handy when you need to register your vehicle for the road.

The bill of sale is proof of ownership here! I still don't get it. And brilliant grab, by the way!

A bill of sale doesn't really mean that the seller owned it.

What if you strolled over to the neighbor's drive and sold his bike to the next preson who happened to walk by. You give him a bill of sale and he's on his way.

Maybe the bill of sale in Canada is more of a formal document than here in the US. For a bill of sale here it could be scrawled on any sort of paper you had laying around. At least in the state of WI.

We could write the bill of sale on toilet paper fo all anyone cares. However, our government insurance requires a new owner to have the RCMP inspect serial numbers and complete a form to that effect before they'll plate you. It's pretty simple if you have nothing to hide.

Hell, the pipes are worth more than what you paid...What a great deal, you must be still smiling..

Do you have a sort of "this must be a bloody dream I just can't believe it" feeling when you walk into your garage and see it sitting there?

Good luck with the tootie up, doesn't look like it needs a total rebuild.  TC

Bars do look a tad high, you can tell if they are honda by removing a clamp and seeing if there are serations on the bar as few aftermarket do thart

Of course, the envy is based on the supposition that the title was lost by the PO.

Of course!

The story goes that the guy I bought it from bought it with the intent that the son of the deceased owner would find the title. They never did.

What I do have is the last registration document. It was last registered for the road in 1994.

Congrats and enjoy!  On the other hand, should you ebay it for the quick cash, then it's time to cast aspersions. ;)

Ok Ok, I was never going to ebay it. I just threw that out there for fun.

I'll be keeping it and riding it.

I did do a search on ebay to kind of get an estimate of what the bike is worth. Couldn't find anything that really matched up.

Anybody want to throw out a number?
