Bright lights on a CB750K2
« on: August 22, 2018, 03:02:33 AM »
I went for a ride last night - across Boston, over to Wollaston Beach, down Furnace Road Parkway, through the Blue Hills before heading home. I was struck by how good my headlight was after upgrading to a Phillips Xtreme vision H4 bulb. I also have a LED light in the tail that flashes when breaking (good for the city). LED lights in the gauges from Superbright. Took this photo in a very dark garage at the end as I was so impressed by the light.

cheers
Andy

Looks good.

I have LED in tail (but not flashing), it is definitely improvement of safety, when brake light on/off is very sharp

I have also dash control lights as LED, much better visibility compare to bulbs.

I plan to go for LED in side indicators, where I expect significant power saving and better safety.

And I still plan to change current nonsme H4 to Philips Xtreme vision soon. Maybe think about gauges too

I did something similar on my 550, LED headlight, front turn/marker lights, gauge lights, and tail/brake light. I didn't bother with the lights that are only on occasionally like the rear turn signals and warning lights.

What LED headlight did you pick, if I may ask?

Have you guys found a LED tail light that has a good contrast between DRL and brake light? The amazon special I tried didn't seem to change much in intensity between the two.

Look for the ones made by CREE. While Chinese (like all LEDs today), they are the brightest, currently.
See SOHC4shop.com for info about the gadgets I make for these bikes.

IMO you've posted a good reason to keep the old bulb. In Europe it's 21/5 Watts btw. To increase contrast, I decided to disconnect the taillight in my DRL scheme. On entering a tunnel I just slide the RH switch to 'P' to add the taillight and instrument lights. The latter are simple 4 X 3 Watts Ba9s - exactly what Honda designed - which with a classy soft glow illuminate the gauges evenly. Not the cheap looking and annoying bright Leds that even fail to illuminate evenly.
