Topic: Big Thank You to JMR Porting

Huge thanks to Mike Rieck at JMR Porting! My Light Weight Super Vintage CB350 twin won 7/9 races this year and the USCRA Championship. Made great power, would hold 12,500 rpm all day and ran every lap. Off to Barber and the big show next week. Thanks Mike! (I know it isn't a SOHC4 but its still fast)

Yes, I was there. Had to leave before main event on Sunday but I picked up my new CMR Seeley Cb350 frame. I ran it last weekend. Gonna be great. I love Mosport. I may do more with VRRA in 2019.

Don't really want to share all of what we did but suffice to say everything has been massaged. I do have a Cappellini oil system with gear pump, cooler and external lubricated cam bearings, PVL ignition, Mikuni carbs, Mega cycle cam, overbore, crank work, JMR Magic head, Swarbick pipes, ARP head studs. Haven't had on dyno but will be this coming Thursday at Barber. Hoping for close to 40. Racing against 48. For comparison my stock CB350 makes 24.

bike mods, Yamaha FZR600 front forks, Water Buffalo front brake massaged by MM at Vintage Brake (pitcure has disc brake, also MM Vintage Brake XS650 with Brembo caliper, AHRMA disc ok), Works performance Shocks, welded up frame seams, Excel wheels by Buchanan, Continental Classic race tires, Airtech body work.

I always enjoyed watching racing on TV at Mosport, Mid-Ohio, and Laguna Seca!
Cannot imagine what racing or riding or a track school there might be like.
I have enjoyed a lap, faster than parade ( we were only supposed to go up to 55 mph but several of us broke the rules to 90-100 down the back straightaway) at Indy many years ago at a car club meet. No slap on the wrist at that time...but that was in '95.

i was at a classic meeting some years ago with colin seeley  , there were ten or twelve seeley framed bikes there and he reckoned he hadnt made any of them!

Imitation without change is merely piracy in my mind; when referring to an object, not a behavior.


Either way, customer framed bikes that work well are cool, despite or independent of whom made them or designed them...and yes you would have to respect and admire someone's work to replicate a copy of it...building a frame is not child's play, it is a lot of hours of fabrication.

I'd be surprised if you only see 40 Kevin. But we all know numbers on a dyno don't always tell the whole story.

Good luck at Barber. Should be a good battle judging by the grid sheet! I hope to be there next year on the same frame, as well as my 750 triple.

piracy was how he seemed to regard it  , some of the supposed copies are rubbish which doesnt help .
have not seen dennis`s seeley copy but his version of a harris frame looked ok so it should be decent enough .

 I think bike had some pretty fancy bits  some ofvthe Cappelini bits.
 The owner said fork lowers are made in Hungary  not the double pinch.. nice..

He was fed up of finishing last and getting lapped and asked Mike could he port it and tune it.
To start with, I suggested he dropped it to 175 and fitted a Megacycle cam.
Mike worked his magic on it and it won first time out.

Sam....that was a fella named Gene Duffy. Super nice guy from New Hampshire. I think Gene's secret weapon was the fact he weighed about 120 pounds?  He would joke about buying doughnuts and passing them out to the competition.
 Actually the bike made good power, worked very well and won a lot of races. He sold it to a guy in Florida I think and that person was winning races despite the head needed a good freshening.
 I have had the opportunity and pleasure to work with some good builders/racers both in the USA and Europe. I consider myself very fortunate.

When he last posted, he said he was taking it to the dyno for the first time and hoping to see around 40bhp and that was the last we heard.
Mike, have you any idea if he had it on the dyno and what power it made ? and more importantly, where in the rev range it made best power ?
