So far the bike has been decent. I’ve had a scare with the oil pressure light coming on at idle after a long cruise when it’s hot. I manually hooked a gauge up and verified pressure, 15-20 at idle and about 60ish at 3k which seems to match fsctory spec. I put a new oil pressure switch in just as some insurance incase it’s failing when hot. Idk we’ll see if it becomes an issue.

But speaking about heat and oil, I decided I want to add an oil cooler. Since no one makes anything specific and Lockharts cooler set up might as well not exist I’m going to piece it together. Digging through the buyers guide on partszilla, it turns out the oil filter housing, the filter, bolt, and the spacer inside are all exactly the same part numbers as the 350f. This means I should be able to use common adapters from other bikes. I ended up scooping a TTR400 oil cooler adapter from 4into1. I’m not just deciding what cooler I want to use. So far I’m looking at the 650 nighthawk cooler, the dohc 750/900 cooler, the 14ish cb1100 cooler, or a universal aftermarket, like mishimoto or setrab.
Eyeballing it, I think the adapter should work. With how many options exist for AN fitting parts, plumbing should be straightforward. Maybe, who knows. I’m sure there’s a reason I don’t see other 650 people try this instead of talking about trying to make the nighthawk stuff work
