There it is. The first tiny hole is about 50mm from the top and then the larger hole down further.

Dang. Yeah if that were to be brazed (if that’s even an option) that whole area would probably have to be ground out with a die grinder. I’m thinking it’s possible if you find a shop that knows how. Of course a new sleeve is better if you can get one. I’ll keep my eyes peeled.

I agree that a new sleeve is the way to go.  Here in the States, CB650 SOHC/4 motors are almost as cheap as their parts.

I just got an update on some barrels I ordered from e-bay: The item in question has been deemed restricted. This could be due to import/postage restrictions or eligibility requirements within the Global Shipping Program. The item won't be sent to you, nor returned to your seller.
This engine does not want to be built!  :'(

Thats absolutely ridiculous? Can you make some kind of case with whoever is actually restricting?
You're not ordering anything hazardous or dangerous and the part was used and sold at one point in your country

What does that even mean? You’ll get your money back, right? Did the guy like stuff uranium in the barrels?

Ha! Yeah I know.... I have never had or heard of this before. I did get a refund, but what's weird is the seller keeps his money too and ebay's global shipping keep the barrels! The only thing I can think of is that the sale came with cam chain tensioner and guide and they might of thought they were asbestos or something? Not sure, I will grill ebay to get an answer.

random idea that popped into my head:
If all else fails, there's a decent number of companies that produce iron sleeves for motors. I've seen someone on sloppy mechanics get a universal that was almost perfect for an LS motor he was doing.
After a quick search guys like powerbore, LA sleeve, and even darton have options for custom made sleeves to whatever specs you want. They may have something close that could be modified to fit your needs too. I'm sure it may cost an arm and a leg but at least its a back up plan if local and international options don't pan out. You Aussies seem to love high horsepower V8s and burnouts so im sure there would be some company that would make some there

Haha, yeah the V8 thing is big in regional areas with what we call "bogans" A bit like what you call "rednecks". We invented  the ute or "pickup" as you might call it. A Ute with a V8 gets double points! :)

I think it will be cheaper and easier to get an original sleeve. I have had barrels sent over from th U.S. twice before without problems.
Anyone know what size 750 sleeves are?

The man known as "Dave the legend" has been kind enough to buy some barrels, drop the sleeves out, and post a few to me to save on postage of the whole thing.

For anyone that needs to remove sleeves: He hung them upside down in his powder coat oven, heated, and they dropped out. Easy!
I have done it by just sitting them the right way up in the oven, and the weight of the main cast body drops and pushes them out.

Thanks Dave!

Ha. Write something like 'Dangerous Dave USA was here 2019' on them and I'll find it in the next rebuild. - Hopfully not for some years! :)

I think I have some input on valve springs. When looking at oem springs for cb650 on CSM I happened to look at the list of other models using the same springs. Honda XR200R was in that list. Kibblewhite has xr200r in it’s list. Worth looking into maby?

List them as cylinder sleeves, not barrels. The snowflakes get touchy if the think it goes to a weapon.

I shipped an oil tank to Nova Scotia in a drywall mud box, stepped back to admire my packaging job and saw the previous content of the box was Taping and Topping compound. Ot had in large letters TNT,  thought I had better cover that one up!🙊🙉🙈

And we're back! I assume that the forum was offline?
I have the sleeves from Dave B. I pressed the bad one out (not as easy as some) and I'll drop them off to be bored out to match the others tomorrow. Progress  :)

Yeah, it went off line twice in the past week. Hope that’s the last of it.

But awesome, glad you got the sleeves. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Ha!  Me too.... Here is a pic of how the sleeve swap is smoothly sailing so far. I had to weld that bloody tab in, because the sleeve top hat broke off when just trying to get it out the last little bit. All done now, with no damage to the already machined surface.

Still don't have the barrels back from the machinist!  :o
Another problem has been that I have had headaches, trouble walking and extreme pain in muscles and limbs.(+heaps of other smaller symptoms)  Suspected MS :(
I'm getting a little better, able to think about the bike again... Though I might not ever ride again, but I'm hopeful for now. I know a few guys that have MS and you would never know.... If I have it, let's hope that I'm like them. Otherwise the next build will have to be a mini with a fast electric set up. That way if my balance is off sometimes, I won't fall over and crash!:)

Thanks Dave.
A std mini would even be nice. I just like the idea of custom engine conversions and electric is easier and more appealing to me at this point in time. Have you watched EV west do cool old cars on YouTube?

Have not, but I’ll check it out. A buddy of mine just finished a Mini Cooper S. No custom stuff, but the front end was off and he was doing head gasket and a bunch of other stuff. Got it cheap because it wasn’t running. Needed a lot of work, and still does but it’s driveable.

Lately I’ve been getting into these really old 1930’s cycle racers, or chain drive cars, not really sure the exact name of these things. But some of them are beauties. Most have very light bodies with WW1 plane engines in them. Solid rear axle so you’re sliding around every corner. Amazing.
