It was 10 years ago today...
« on: September 20, 2019, 07:01:14 AM »
... that I joined this wonderful forum!

That was around the time I got into vintage motorcycles after taken a break from bikes and spending the long Texas summers boating on Lake Travis  [still have a boat].

Have learned an enormous amount of info on SOHC's and at times have passed that on to newby's to keep this wonderful passion alive!

I'm on quite a few forums to access info [Kawasaki Triples, KZriders, Corvette, Tacoma, 370Z, Camaro, AMX] but this forum is by far the best of the bunch!

I've met some great guys, we gather every Oct at the Harvest Classic Vintage Motorcycle Show every year.  And a lot of great guys [and girls] that I have not met, but still feel are good buddies and hope to meet one day and share a ride!

Cheers to another 10 years!

I have been in this forum since before it even was a forum, back in the BBS days. I belong to around 20 forums of different interests. (Is there a 12 step program for forum addiction?)  And by leaps and bounds, this forum is the best one, the friendliest, and the most informative of them all.

Stev-o...I had to look it up, but I joined in August 2007. I had bought my ruby red KO in July and Bob Cleveland recommended this forum. The best thing that ever happened was joining here. This forum is a must for these bikes from parts to technical help. Congrats on the anniversary Stev-o!!! And great pic of the bike...ride on my friend!

Member since 2009 aug 23.

I had an earlier login on my name around 2003. A few posts still visible in that very old section. I thought I knew a lot back then after some complete  tear downs and  refurbish of the entire bike.
I did not know how much more to know.

Thanks for all the replies and kind words, guys.

Cant say it enough...what a great forum!

I like to do a Friday "Happy Hour" ride on Fridays, rolled the 550F out of the garage and totally dead.
Coundnt believe it, wanted to ride not wrench, so rolled the "Big Bang Bike" out and of course it started!
Had a nice, but short ride...now to diagnose the 550 issue.

It must be nice to live where it is possible to have a ride all year around, right? Plus have at least 2 bikes so there will be one ready for the road when working on the other.

The winters here are usually wrenching time, especially February- March when rhe light returns waking us up for spring getting bike ready to middle of April as latest.

Absolutely! Think I would be in a state of depression if I could not ride all year 'round or at least drive my convertible  [the top never goes up]

So, I did a ride on the K4 yesterday, was a beautiful day.
Anybody notice anything odd about my bike?!

Got back home and it was bugging me that the 550F was dead.  I had put the battery charger on it before I rode, and I had 13.4V at the battery so all good there.  Ohm'd out my fuses and good there, looks like the switch has gone bad.  I have a spare and will pop it in there.

Try jumping the solenoid once on the 550 with a screwdriver Steve and see if anything happens just for fun. If it fires give it a couple of whacks with the handle !  Dummy lights and other electrical workin' OK ?

Bingo....lost a couple screws and the shield came loose on a ride last month.  Screws ordered.

No lights were working, Eric.    I did jump the solenoid and now all seems fine, starter cranks and all lights working! WTF?!

Yes, this the best forum, with the greatest knowledge bank...and people willing to spread that knowledge around!
I too joined in 2009 knowing nothing about bikes except they had two wheels and were the most fun to ride!
We got 8 inches of snow this week so I'm wrenchin' and not riding till spring.  Lucky me, I've got a heated workspace and enough unfinished projects to keep me distracted.  Just added a cb550k  to the fleet, looking forward to diving into it.
Thank you to all who make this forum the best!

He he, that's a grab bar off something else that came loose from its lower mounts.  I have a correct, stock grab bar and nos signals to put on it.  The finished version will be stock.  The bike seems fairly unmolested, but really dirty.  Needs a really deep cleaning (new paint) to be road ready.
