From "The Burglars" the computer screen doesn't do it justice.
At the end the Fiat is leaking a little oil and the head light falls out when he
gets out and slams the door

Remy Julienne is driving the Fiat, Omar Sherif (sp?) is the one driving
the Opel (Omar probably had a stunt man drive his, Remy does his on stunts)

First chase scene I remember seeing was in "Thunder Road" w/ Robert Mitchum.
Chances are that most won't know this one, it came out in the 50's and was about
"Moonshiners" delivering their Home Brew and being chased by the Revenuers (Feds).
He started with a 49' or 50' Ford and was driving a 57' Ford towards the end.

Hey, "the Burglars" were first they set the standard

Everyone else tried to improve on it

(Hum, I think they were first), I loaned out my copy so
I can't officially check the dates

But, I'd love to put all these
chase scenes on one DVD.

I liked "Vanishing Point" too. The whole movie was a chase scene. That Challenger was cool.

Actually a good car chase scene is in the end of the bourne supremacy. I liked it because it actually showed the cars smashing into innocent vehicles and it had alot of ramming by the police.

Bullitt.

Trivia from Bullit: Steve McQueen did a lot of his own driving. Also, the part of the cab driver was played by Robert Duvall.

Great movie. My mum got me hooked on it, and the chase scenes are great. Trivia: Mitchum wrote Whppoorwill, the theme song, which wasn't half bad.

I remember "Thunder Road" quite well. I had a job in high school running
the projectors at the local theater and this was one of the first flicks I
screened. By then black and white flicks were rare, too.

The scene where the oil poured out the back of the car was great.

I lived in West Tenn. and I think this was filmed in East Tenn. There are
probably some back roads there that you could still get shot at on!

From what I have seen.......without question....Steve Mcqueen- Bullitt.......Class B Gone In 60 Seconds.....the original from the early 70's........lots of action & comedy.... Dirty Larry, Crazy Mary....Vanishing Point.....How about Bond (James Bond) Diamonds Are Forever in the Mach 1 going thru Vegas???......I'm sure there are plenty more.

Bullitt was cool, but it always bugs me to see the same cars in the background in almost every camera angle.

The original Gone in 60 Seconds was prob. my favorite. Here's some good info on Toby Halicki http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/H.B_%27Toby%27_Halicki . French Connection, Blues Brothers, so many chases, so little time.
