Sorry to hear about the early end to riding, Frank. I know it wouldn’t be by choice.

You are right, PeWe, snow forecast Saturday night and Sunday here in the valley, so there will be some where these photos were taken.

Ride 26 127 miles 62f overcast
No blue skies here today, but a shifted jet stream has given us a break in the temperature. It’s been nearly two weeks since I have been out on the CB and it was good to open the petcock, switch the ignition, close the kill switch, set the choke, press the starter button and hear the sohc4 come to life. Better yet to get out to Seven Mile and Beck road where the ride properly begins when the last RYG traffic light for 20 miles turns green and there is nothing but smooth empty asphalt ahead of me. I don’t visit the redline too often but a set of up shifts at 6500-7000rpm give the full effect of the magnificent sound and rapid acceleration that a CB750 is capable of. I continued on the ride, enjoying every minute, knowing this was a bonus ride, maybe my last ride this year. A highlight was traveling on Mt. Hope road in Jackson county. It has been the roughest road on my route but today was opening day on the fresh smooth repaved road, a nice surprise. I should mention, my CB750K1 was built in November 1970 and today was the first ride to celebrate its 50th birthday.

Happy 50th birthday Mr K1 !  Glad you got out Kevin for the bonus ride. I've been out a little bit 4 days in a row to enjoy. Think my son and I will be spinning up a 100 + on Saturday. He hasn't been over to the Lake Michigan shoreline on his new 919 Hornet yet so think we will head west then north and make a very large circle.

Good for you Eric, this morning’s Free Press says do it now because of what is around the bend. I’m gonna be busy now with more important things, But it was nice to get out after two weeks of cold and rain.
My son rode with me on his Hornet to the Gilmore meet. His bike didn’t have nearly the fuel range of my 48mpg K1.
A full cleanup for the birthday bike is in order.

Saturday in Michigan was bright and sunny and temps in the low 70's. Member Sean on his nice Suzuki GS1100 and my son Ken on his new to him 919 Hornet met at my house at high noon and off we went west and north to cover 140 miles. A little beer was drank at a quaint stop along the Lake Michigan shoreline and Sean led us on some very nice new to me roads. Great day and fun was had stealing a November ride. I let the big Dawgs run up front and me and the ole' Gramma bike brought up the rear most of the day.  Wait up guys !!  ;D ;D

It snowed all night last night, but got another 100+ mile ride in a few days ago before the weather turned.  It was a little on the cool side, so missed the Windjammer for the first time.  Even so, a great ride over into eastern Oregon.  Just a couple of photos -

bridge over the Snake River near Adrian, OR -

Came across this very nice '57 T-Bird for sale alongside the road.  No price on it.  I guess if you have to ask, you can't afford it -

I'm back! The lockdown 25 Km (16 mile?) distance limit was lifted from midnight on Sunday, so today I took the afternoon off, to do some riding. 31 Deg C (close to 90 deg F) was actually a little too warm for me with my jeans, boots, 30 year old Marlon Branflakes jacket, helmet and gloves, but fcuk it, I needed a ride as much as the old Effing F2 needed some tar under it's new tyres.

F2 ride 10 Nov 2020 3 by Terry Prendergast, on Flickr

Someone opined here that riding a modern bike is easier than a 40+ year old CB750, and I'm here to call bullsh1t, the F2 was just as comfy as any of my other bikes. While it's not as sharp a handler, it's brakes aren't as good and 71 BHP is sub par compared to modern bikes, it was just as fun a ride and I overtook plenty of modern cars and trucks with no issues, and wore most of the hero knobs off the new Stinko tyres. The trip meter has just clicked over 300 Km, (200 miles) it's my 3rd ride since unsticking the engine and doing heaps of work on it, the first ride was 18 Km (11 miles) the second on Sunday was 100 Km (60 miles) and today I did 182 Km. (113.75 miles)

F2 ride 10 Nov 2020 4 by Terry Prendergast, on Flickr

I would have kept going, but I had some more painting to do on my K0 project, as rain is on the way. I'll get the ol' F2 out again soon, but I have another 4 or 5 bikes that need an outing too, so I intend to get at least my remaining 5 100(+) milers in before years end, as long as we have no new cases of Covid-19, and don't go back into lockdown. 7 days of no new cases and no deaths is a great start...... ;D
I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

I fully understand you Terry!
My CB750 K2 is a very relaxing and comfortable bike, like a scooter to cruise around in 100-120kmh.
No problem to increase to 140-160kmh all day long.

Brakes?  ;D

My K6 with more power has dual front brakes that match.
Still not use on race circuits.

A CB750 is a nice and fun bike stock as well as with much more power. I need both!

I can have another bike too, but not by trading in any of my CB750's.

Thanks Per, yep, it's a fun bike, I'm looking forwards to finishing my K0 and comparing them to see how much the last of the SOHC 750's (the F2) evolved from the first. (K0) Some folks say the K0 was faster, but I suspect that's more wishful thinking than fact. We'll see........ ;D

It is not needed to enter the faster side of 200kmh.
Nice relaxing rides in 80-100 kmh.
Sometimes in need to pass cars, throttle much more up to 160kmh which is enough.
Higher speed just to confirm the carbs and engine in general.

Ride #13. October 23rd 123.5 miles

I had read about some fishing ponds in Thorold which is down near Niagara Falls.  Found lots of reviews on line of guys catching some good size large and smallmouth bass on Lake Gibson.  Unfortunately, all the access I found had “No Tresspassing” signs put up by OPG (Ontario Power Generation).  Didn’t want to break any laws or get a fine, so rode around the area and off through St. Catharines.  I did stop and fish on the river for about an hour but no luck.  The riding is the main goal...fishing is just a bonus .

Ride #14 November 7th 109 miles.

My lovely wife suggested that I ride out to Cambridge to our favourite farm store and replenish our freezer with some double-smoked bacon.  How could I say no to that .  And the weather was glorious .

Crossed over 20000 miles on the odometer too

Ride #15 November 10th 160 miles

Another beautiful day...it’s hard to believe it’s November so I take a ride out past Fergus, Elora, Alma and wander around the neighbouring country roads.  The stench of cow/pig urine is so strong in some areas that I have to hold my breath and try to push on.  I think they are spreading it on the fields as a fertilizer .

Might still have a chance to get to 20 rides .

A very large scale dairy farmer leases and farms all the fields behind and around where I live and where I like to walk my dog. You can guess what is put over most of the fields when not in use.Its kind of a brown color  ;)  Actually leaches out pretty quickly with rain and when frozen in the winter is like walking on a magic carpet when I have to cross a cornfield to get to another patch of woods.  :)

I have lots of Wilson, Harvey, Garriock cousins there in Ontario, also in Oz, NZ, Scotland. I think the Yankee contingent that I am part of is much smaller. I know only a very few of my international cousins, got more pals here at sohc4, so it’s nice to see all the other places here at sohc4.
Also nice to see so many getting their late season November rides in and Terry’s F2 up and running.
I have shot myself in the foot by leaving my ignition switch on for several days (kill switch off). Even an LED oil pressure warning lamp will drain an AGM battery to near zero. So, at 5? years, I don’t expect the battery to recover, another item for off-season attention and my riding season is likely done sooner, not later. I’m quite capable of screwing things up, but this is a first for me. ::) :o

Thanks Per, as much as that is true, there’s nothing more fun (for me at least) than twisting that throttle on a big modern bike and just rocketing forward at warp speed. My Triumph Rocket III does 0-60 in 2.9 seconds, and my FJR1300 isn’t far behind it.

The CB750 is no slouch, just not as exciting as many modern bikes, thats just evolution. That’s why I like having such a diverse “collection” of bikes, I can ride a particular bike for a particular route. I’m looking forward to taking my 1997 VFR750 out next so I can head for some fast twisties. ;D

After selling my R1 and slabby. I got a hayabusa,  A lot more comfy to ride plus it gets up and goes like there's no tomorrow. Suppose to be slowing down as I get older.

I’m not averse to high speeds but we don’t have wide open spaces around here. The CB goes from zero to illegal anywhere in the US plenty fast for me. I’ve not ridden a Busa, and I was on a very short leash while on the FJR, but I did get a hold on a Z1000 and turned it loose, even if just for a bit.
