OK, so ride #19 was not on the K2 bitsa, but a great ride, just the same. I'd invited Spotty to my Christmas Eve BBQ extravaganza, but he had other plans, so we decided on a ride after Christmas, instead. As the weather tomorrow is supposed to be hotter, but raining, today was the day. Spotty's VMax wasn't quite right for a ride, so I thought it'd be a great idea to go over to the storage place and see if we could fire up two of the bikes that have been sitting unridden and unloved, since June. (Stage 4 lockdown)
I picked him up around 11am, and drove him over to the storage place. The big Yamaha FJR1300 started right up, but the Rocket III, with it's new (in April or May) lead/acid battery, didn't have the gumption to spin the engine over. We ended up jumpstarting it from the car, and away it went. Both fuel tanks were low, but I wanted to ride the 20-odd miles to Wallan to refuel, so as to give the Triumph's battery a charge. It worked, the Trumpy fired right up after filling up with 95 RON Caltex fuel.
We rode on thru Romsey, Lancefield, Tooborac and onto Heathcote, where we stopped at the magnificent bakery for lunch, I took this pic of Spotty as he inspected the quite badly worn out tyres on the Rocket III, it's done 9000 miles from new in 2007, and the front tyre is quite badly scalloped. Oh well, I'll get 'em replaced soon........... Spotty makes these two very large bikes look quite small.
Boxing Day Ride 26 Dec 2020 by

After a fine repast of meat pies etc, we rode on to Bendigo, then, in a very roundabout way due to my "Imginative Navigation" we rode back to Melbourne. I needed to refill the Triumph, but the Yamaha has magnificent fuel efficiency, and didn't require refilling, even though we'd ridden around 250 miles all up. It was a great day, warm but not horribly hot, and we'll do it again soon. In the meantime, I need to get Ride #20 out of the way this week, hopefully my rebuilt K2 bitsa engine won't fail me, we'll see...........
