This project has been sidelined by my sand cast but yesterday I stumbled on an ad for a Rickman fairing. The guy sent me pictures and it looks identical to the race fairing on my bike, but a little heavier weight. Original finish, black with gold lettering. It has the nicely moulded headlight opening, missing on my race bodywork. Windshield is cracked, but I have two new spares. “Road Trip” on Monday, hope it will be worth it! Pictures, next week.

Nice find, hopefully he's a stand up guy and holds it until Monday.
I have made the drive only to hear "oh yeah I sold it an hour ago".  >:(

Kelly.... he’s “a friend of a friend”, and a decent guy. He actually lives a couple of hundred miles away from me, BUT, is visiting a cottage just north of here, next week. I think it’s a bunch of guys getting together for turkey hunting season! We agreed to meet when he is on the way there, so only an hour for me. Pretty good, if it all works out!

Scored! 50 years old and not a chip or crack. Original mounts, mouldings, and all the correct hardware. The “dash” has never been cut out for the Honda lamp binnacle either. Wind screen is broken but a new one came with it! The fairing that came with my Rickman is the race style. Very light and flimsy, with no head light opening. Mark Olan (AFE Graphics) is a neighbour of mine. Next step will be for him to make new decals, before all the body work gets a coat of the correct orange paint. Very lucky find!

Thanks guys! It was much nicer than I could have even hoped for. No idea if it’s one for a cb750 or Z1, but there are only minor differences. The Rickman is down to the bare frame, with just the engine fitted. I’ll try a “test fit” soon, but this week we are focused on prepping the Lexus for our first race weekend, coming up in a few days!

Pretty happy with this. We’re racing at Mosport this weekend, so the motorcycle end of the shop is being ignored. After that, “farming” will get busy. Test fit in the next few weeks, one day!

What a find! :)

BTW, what do you hunt turkeys with, there? According to news around here, Canucks can't shoot there anymore? Not true?

Not true. Turkey is for sport (they are pretty tough eating) and to keep them under control. The bow hunters like to chase them around. Deer are twice a year, two max and most of my neighbors take their limit. Today, while BBQ’ing dinner, I watched 7-8 deer in our back beanfield. We have between us, a 400 acre square, about 1/3 is wooded. Tim, the guy I race the Lexus with, is on the hundred south of ours. Another friend has “a long 200” behind us. I bet we have +75 deer on our square. Coyotes, martins, beavers, foxes, occasional cougars and one black bear we chased off a few years ago too!

The latest breed is a “coy wolf”. Big, tough dogs that are lovely, big animals, but really piss off the folks with chickens!

The handgun bill got morphed into a much broader bill going after all guns that were 5 round magazine or larger in rifles from what I understand. The buy back program is in it's early stages. It has frozen sales or any ownership of guns on the list.

I know some people who hunt with AR-15s and while they don't need 30 rounds to hunt with typically they have some 30 round magazines when used in other applications for their guns.
Not make this political or controversial.
Glad I don't live in Canada, couldn't handle the cold anymore and I like being able to ride more of the year.

Glad you found that excellent fairing for your Rickman and the car is ready for the weekend racing. Have fun this weekend and best of luck on your 2 endurance 8 hour races.

When will the anti-gun activists understand that the criminals don't obey gun laws no matter how many gun laws they pass. My solution is to sentence anyone who commits a crime using a gun will get an additional 50 years added to their sentence. It wouldn't be too long before we run out of criminals willing to use a gun to commit their crime.

The Rickman would be a little large for a pit bike, but it might draw some attention in the pits if it is parked there with the team's stuff for those who know bikes...

Getting all my winter projects moving again. Next steps here is to have all the accessories tabs (removed by the racer) welded back on. I’ve made all the mounts and found the guy for the job (the gentleman that repaired the damaged fins on the S/C).

Bit of fantastic luck yesterday. Stumbled on a fellow that has an original, unrestored (not running), 1975 Rickman Honda CR750. Been salted away for +40 years. Takes it out occasionally for shows. He lives about 50 miles away, so I need to get over there and take a few dozen photos to confirm location and angles for the 10-15 missing brackets! Just the motivation I needed, at just the right time.
