Have not heard of those, cool tread pattern though.  I ordered Shinko's 244 Golden Boys, very cheap, both tires $100 shipped.  This bike will be off road 80%.

yeah it had these on it when i got it so got new ones after reading how long they lasted etc,#$%*ing hell its been all wheel spin off road, its a big engine for off road, they lasted #$%* all aswell and wernt cheap either, good on road is about all,i got given a used rear dunlop D606 road legal today,i chucked it on this arvo, just looking at it you can tell its gonna bite off road, hard to believe these are DOT?ill run this one out then replace both tyres, the hot ticket is to use a dunlop D606 rear and the pirelli MT21 front, both DOT knobbies and cheaper than the mitas,if they gonna be on hi way somewhat just run cheap dot knobbies, the dual purpose dont last any longer so far for me?

I bought a Yammy too Dave, a 1972 (or '73) RT360! It's got "dirt only" knobbies on it, brand new, but they're coming off, and I'm getting Heidenau Dual Sport K60 90/90-21 & 120/90-18 Tyres put on, on Friday so I can use it for both bitumen and dirt. Should be good. ;D

I was feeling sorry for myself because I couldn't afford new bike boots, until I met a man with no legs.

So I said, "Hey mate, you haven't got any bike boots you don't need, do you?"

Ha ha, yeah mate, but considering my penchant for self harm, I figure it'll be not as far to fall? ;D

Thanks Dave, I haven't ruled out a full engine rebuild, it's had a "20 foot restoration" and I can see under the brush painted tank that there's probably enough bondo to fill the holes in the Titanic, and when I took the magneto cover off, water ran out. It'll take a little time, but providing I have the leg strength to start the fcuker, it should go like a rocket.

It looks like the autolube pump's been disconnected, even though the cable still turns it when you twist the throttle, and there's oil in the oil tank, but I think I'll just run 2 stroke fuel in it until I know what's going on. ;D

Terry,I prefer to use the Yamaha Autolube system for best lubrication together with Yamalube or equivalent 2 stroke injection oil.The pump can be checked on the bench to see if it has a good seal to keep the 2 stroke oil from seeping into the bottom-end:set it up by removing the pump and use the oil tank to see if gravity will cause it to leak while sitting for about a week.I would say replace the pump with an NOS one if you are going to keep it.

Thanks Bill, yep you’re right mate, I should use the auto lube system and I will once I actually get the sucker going, but so as not to damage it before I can score a (preferably factory) service manual for it, I’ll Redneck it with premix. If you see a manual for sale, let me know? I missed out by minutes on a genuine factory manual overnight on Gumtree, the seller apologised for not taking the ad down after he sold it. ;D

Ha ha, OK Dave, I'll initially run it on pre-mix, and see where it goes from there, if it goes at all........... ;D

itll be a hoot on the road!in all seriousness they aint real good off road like any of those early jappers, the euro and spanish bikes in the day had the handling but maybe less reliable?,the yammy will have plenty of power and be reliable though once you fettle it Terry, fetch a good price in good nick,if that bike could talk?(it would most likely swear?)
heres my 74 dt400 with obligutory dented tank and ripped to bits seat cover!and heres my mate i bought it from with his #$%*ing near new TT600 the #$%*!!that was a few years later though, were still mates after all the years!hes into harleys now.

Beautiful Dave! I had 2 x DT250's, one in 1975(?) and another in 1980. Both fantastic bikes, and easy to start, unlike this thing. Probably too early to judge though, I'll give it a couple more days........... ;D

Well I paid more for it than my FJR1300, VFR750, CB750F2, CB750K1, BMW K100RS, Yamaha XS650, Honda VTR1000F, Honda VTR1000R SP1, and a few others Dave, so it was a big song. Think "Born Free", or "Bridge over troubled waters", and that's the kind of "Song" I got it for. That's OK, I've always wanted one, so the money wasn't that important............ ;D

I wish we did too Dave, I need someone with more leg strength than me to kick this fcuker over, it makes a CB750 look like a CL90 when my 100 Kg is trying to prod that starter into life! ;D

Dave,I've never set the timing on an RT360 but have on many other 2-strokes including the RD350's.I have the dial indicator/timing set.I can possibly send it to Terry so he can set his timing after he sets-up his points plate/condenser and de-oxidizes all the electrics under that cover.
