On a BMW , this is a toaster tank..
« on: May 30, 2020, 01:07:59 PM »
Chrome panel sided tank on Beemers have been called Toasters.. for a long long time.
Not sure if they have been on Honda or other bikes.
I think though the one in the pic qualifies..

I think because I am a little older I have a fond soft spot for that chrome and especially those cool rubber knee pads that lots of old bikes had. I saw pics of a newer CB1100 with some black rubber knee pads so I guess there still making them up custom for that look.

The Suzuki I had as a teenager was the little brother of your bike. The picture below isn't mine, although it was that color, this is one I saw at Mid Ohio last summer. It's the first one I've seen since my late father sold mine in the mid 1990's. It was even for sale, but since I was on my 750 buying it wasn't an option.

I bought this X6 since I had one as a young teen, my father bought it for my brother who handed it down to me when he bought his first car. Was my first "real bike" after having an Allstate moped.
Wish I still had both, my father sold them after I was done with them.

I think you're right -- knee pad is a different shape. Speaking of which, wonder if that thing melts after a couple rounds of making toast?
