Worked till dusk, it was nice out.  Got the bars sorted out with internal wiring this morning and have a tentative final positioning for all the controls.   The oil lines are done except for the oil cooler, decided that it will go as low as possible for the style of cooler it is, and will look for something better suited for there.  Got the "rear" bolted together and got everything test fitted and trued up, the black fender doesn't "stick out" as much as I thought it would and I'm in no hurry to change it...LOL.

Funny how much BIGGER they get with the bags on them...she has become an "outside" vehicle till she runs, which will be VERY SOON.  I want to get the primary back on and sorted before I put the topend back on.  I know as soon as it fires I'm gunna want to go for a shakedown ride!

Started on the primary today...I noticed when I took it apart that the adjuster was installed backwards.  So not trusting whoever was in it last I rechecked the chain alignment and it's off...big surprise.  I will address that later cause I wanted the primary back together so I could lock the engine from turning so I can get the topend back on.   That will be next weeks project, then I'll tackle the primary issues.

Made a lock bar for my primary cause the topend is next!  Changed out the solvent in my redneck "parts washer" cause it wasn't purple anymore, just black and gritty.  Found a bit more than a 1/4" of grease/grim sludge in the bottom.  Then I got the barrels out and cleaned them up.....what a PITA!  Whoever put this engine together should be flogged, they used some kinda sealant on it and got it EVERYWHERE and it hardened.  So cleaning took awhile to say the least!  Got them all cleaned up and all the sealant crap off them.  They must have been weeping oil for a long time cause it was baked on the fins but eventually came off with a good stiff brush.  Oiled them up to keep rust from forming and noticed a pretty good cross-hatch still in them, all in all pretty happy....next the heads, and my ring compressor tool came today......Yeah!!

Premature joy, knew something was "strange" with the rear cylinder but since it was taken apart months ago, I didn't remember.   I have a broken bolt in the rear head....lol...slight delay in reassembly.

Been workin on a broken bolt in the rear head and today was a bit cooler then the last few days (103) so I went out and got back on that damn broken bolt! All I can say is the EVO GOD'S looked down on me and smiled today! I got it zeroed in (eyeballed) on the drill press and used the hardened 17/64 bit from the kit and DAMN IF I DIDN'T HIT THAT HOLE DEAD CENTER! This is the very end of the busted bolt by some ham fisted idiot, who broke it and left it that way.

I expected it to be bottomed but it wasn't, and now that I cleaned the head back up I need to drill down another 1/8" or so to get rid of the step before I tap and helicoil it. Should be ready to mount by the end of the day. Decided to wait till dusk to go back out, since the sun is starting to hit the front of the shed, making it an oven.

I also found a better fitting seat since I'm not running the rack anymore....$60.00....I like and the wife likes it better that the other, BONUS!

What's the "Alma" mean. I had to check your location again because we have a town called Alma here in Michigan.
I was wondering that too, as there is an Alma, here in Arkansas. But now, we know it's the name he gave his project Harley. So now, we can watch Alma, get a "rebuild". Moving right along.  ;)

Have been tryin to get the topend back on for 2 days.  The wind has been not cooperating though.  I did strip her down for the job, I guess I have to get up earlier tomorrow and do it before the wind starts.

Been REALLY hot here again, bet 115 on Sunday.  This is the cold temp of the oil my tank....hahaha

Hot, Hot, Hot!

HAHAHA!!!

This happened this morning!

Got up EARLY this morning to beat the wind and heat!  Back together and torqued to spec, went smooth a silk.....ya right.  Everything is soooo close in the frame with the stroker kit on it, I had to get the wife out there to help.  She ran the ring compressor while I got the cylinders slid on.  100 degrees already so in the house till the evening after the heat of the day is over.  Gotta clean up my mess and cover the heads up till then.

When I took it apart I found it to be a 96" stroker engine kit by S&S.  The only thing you use from the original engine is the case.  In mild tune 100hp and 100tq...makes it .........fun!

I'd say more right place, right time.....they guy I bought it from was a flipper and didn't have a clue as to what it was.  This was his first Evo bike, and he couldn't find the parts to fix it at any decent prices.   He lost his ass on the deal.

Whoever put this engine together needs to be slapped!!

This idiot use some kinda sealant that dries like glue on all the gaskets.  I needed to use a thick gasket scrapper and a little tapping to get the lifter blocks to come loose...wouldn't budge with a dead blow.

Got the lifters out and they look new, as does the cam, and the inside of the cam chest is spotless.  Got everything cleaned up this afternoon and I believe that's the last thing that needed to come apart and get inspected.  I think she'll be running again next week.

Had some time this morning, finished the lifter block install, collapsed the pushrods, and put them and the tubes back on the bike.   Got the rocker boxes back on, but still have to tq. them.  Will do that this evening after the heat of the day.  I plan on having the top buttoned up today and the engine mounted back up.

Got the battery/starter system all final wired, along with the wiring under the seat.  I like the black cover on the solenoid better than the grey one.

I found a set of 06 pillow block/rear floorboard mounts for $20.00 and it looks like they'll bolt right on.  Went with those since I can't seem to find the pin located pillow blocks.  I know they say it doesn't matter, but that looks like to damn big of a slot for a pin to float around in for me.....lol...call it my OCD thing.  I figure that the Moco changed to the slot for a reason and using the 06 mounts that were designed for that style mount will be a little more precise than the pins.

Got her back together and I'm almost ready to fire her again.  The Mikuni HS40 just hits the tank...a common problem I've come to find out.  They make a special manifold that drops in 1/2" but I can make an adapter/spacer for way less.  Anyhow I now have space between the carb and tank....lol.  I added a spacer on the rear tank mounts and now have a minimum of 3/8" now above the carb.  I plan on making an aluminum spacer to lower the carb 1/2" in the future.  Probably won't get to much over the next few days, it'll be above 105 for the next 4 days, I'll have a little time in the mornings but it gets HOT pretty quick.
