Spouse with Covid
« on: December 11, 2021, 07:04:09 AM »
My Darling Wife of 35 years has been totally miserable for the past 6 days with Coivd.  She has had all of the symptoms, congestion, cough, loss of taste and smell, but no fever.  I transported her to the local hospital yesterday for an infusion treatment and this seems to have helped a little. (She is 70 and I am 72 .)  We were both fully vaccinated with both shots, no boosters, the only difference, she had Moderna and I had Pifizer.  As of today I am completely symptom free and feel fine.  Of course we have stayed apart as much as possible in our old abode, but up until she flunked the Covid test three days ago we were side by side thinking she had contracted a minor cold during the initial onset of the disease.  Just wondering if anybody else has experienced this scenario.  My Step-Daughter had Covid also months back, and the Son-in-Law who had also had the Pifizer injections never contracted the virus either, my Daughter at time had not been vaccinated. Please this is not a post pro or con for getting the shots, just throwing some information out there if anyone is going through this crap also.  Here's hoping and praying for better times folks......

Best of luck to you, may she experience a speedy recovery. I can recall hearing about the first confirmed case in the town where I was working when Covid-19 was publicized .. Now I don't know anyone that hasn't had some close relative with some exposure. Hoping & praying for better times indeed. Take care BM

Eat high doses of vitamine C and D can help not getting it. Hopefully a help when having it.
Not too much D since it is that type of vitamine that ackumulates in the body like E and A.

I wish you both a healthy christmas. Almost 2 weeks left for recovery!

I and wife with son have all got 2 shots of Pfizer.
I might take a 3rd soon.

Our son had a bad cold like usual flu virus 2 months ago. I hade a mild version of it too. Son tested for Covid but nothing found.

I work from home so no problem. 3 years ago I should probably go to work anyway.
Today, absolutely not.

No shots here, just C+D, zink and selenium. At my work (go there every day, and self-test for everyone, vaccinated or not is mandatory) I see people with Jansen and Moderna getting a nasty-er version of Covid, but I also know a few with Pfizer that had the be hospitalized. I wish your wife a good recovery.

BTW, I'm 54, so a youngster, and had Covid end of march 2020 (blood test pointed that out). I got it from my son (20 years old), who came back from Milan area in March 2020 (he got really sick for 4 weeks). My spouse didn't got it, while sharing the same bed and bed activity's :). It seems that women are less vulnerable...

My daughter and grandson both caught it at work, (he goes along) she had the vaccines but no booster yet, He is 3, both weathered it well. Her husband didn't catch it at all. They think they all had it very early on too but there wasn't a test available then and we hadn't heard a lot about it

Britman, speedy recovery and prayers for your wife. All my friends whom have had Covid managed to stay out of the hospital but they felt like they were going to die.
There are some good meds out there and what Trump took was effective for him and has been for many others. It is a different game fighting it as they know more and have better treatments for vaccinated people.

Hang in there...

Your situation is not out of the norm. It appears this virus works differently in us whether we have had a shot, partially, fully, or not at all.
Regardless, it doesn't matter when it is someone close to us, we worry...a lot..
Practically all of my girlfriend's family ( they all live here) have had it and some were worse than others, no hospitalizations. Practically all of my family ( who live away) have had it, all are fine.
We,unbelievably, haven't contracted it yet..we don't think. She had an "episode" a few weeks back but didn't do a test. We are 68 and 72 ....She's had two pfizers the past spring, I've had one moderna a month ago...no more for us. We have been lucky...
No fever is a good sign. I hope your hospital allows you to get whatever treatments you want your wife to have.
Take care...

The Wife has started to feel better within the last 24 hours, she believes it was the infusion treatment.  She is weak and still cannot taste or smell, (tonight I am fixing a big pot of chile, with the olfactory sense on vacation and my cooking, perfect timing.)   I am still symptom free, and hopefully we can resume a normal lifestyle in the next couple of days.  I sincerely thank you all for the well wishes.  It is a nasty virus, but in my humble opinion, with care and treatment, it can be beaten..........

That is good news about the wife and her treatment.  My cousin had it, felt like crap for 4 days. He got ivermecton ( spelling?) And bounced right back in a day or two. Took 3 or 4 weeks for the taste to return. He is 67.

Praying for a full, fast, and complete recovery for your wife and no covid for you too.

Good to hear Britman.

Not the same scenario as you but prior to the vaccines being available, my brother and sister-in-law contracted covid.  He had no symptoms and she was very ill for a week or so, but did not require hospitalisation.  Bottom line is it will affect everyone differently.

Britman, hope your wife's improvement continues and she recovers quickly. Friend had it and pain from the virus working its way through and out of his body was months long in his case. He had pain in his extremities for months as the virus worked its way down his legs. His doctor said for many people this was normal. He was not contagious while it did this. It affected his hands and legs in this way. Dan is in his mid-70s and in very good health otherwise. He is originally from Germany and he teaches school and works a second job after school and has a 16 or 17 year old son...

Just FYI for anyone who is interested or knows someone who has the virus.   The Wife is back, quarantine is done and she had been Christmas shopping for the past two days.  The only lingering effect she still has is the lack of taste and smell, but she does think it is returning slowly.  Since I have never had Covid but have lived with it during her sickness, our summary is this.  It will make you sick, it is like a flu on steroids, it leaves quicker than the onset.  I am sure it can effect people in different ways, but from our prospective from being  older folks, you will survive with rest, proper medical care, and knowing it will eventually move on.  Thanks one and all for the well wishes.....

My wife's brother had Covid, was really sick and test showed Covid. He is OK since 10 days but still show Covid when testing, PCR test.

So he has to stay away from others, old people especially. His wife still sick.
They have taken dual shots earlier this year.

They have been very sick but no need for hospital. Like a nasty flu with fever, pain in joints....

We will have a meeting at my job today, we all will make a quick antigen test. Only one line=OK.

My test OK ;)

Me and the wife just got over it a couple weeks ago. I was really sick for a couple days, but had tested negative (home rapid test). After continuing to feel bad (high fever, lung congestion, headache, body aches) I decided to take the 2nd at-home rapid test, and it was positive. Wife then tested positive with two rapids (home and at the clinic) and also a pcr. As soon as I tested positive, I started on Ivermectin, zinc, and Quercetin. I was already taking D3 and C. The next morning, lungs were 80% better and I was working around the house. I know Ivermectin is controversial and I don't care. I've personally seen people recover quickly after taking it. The wife took it, as did my neighbors when the caught covid (around the same time as us). We went ahead and did the antibody infusion and I felt terrible the following day, but much better after that. I still have a bit of a cough that comes and goes, but otherwise fine. I believe the best way to fight it is to stay at least somewhat active. I'm not saying run 4 miles on the treadmill. Just force yourself to get up and move. We took short walks around the neighborhood. I installed a ceiling heater in my shop. We drove out and looked at some Christmas lights. Lying in bed gives the virus the opportunity to settle in the lungs. Moving keeps them clear. That's just my personal opinion, of course.

it's not readily available in the U.S. As a matter of fact, Powers that be have halted, prohibited, banned and forbidden us, doctors, hospitals and any other entity they wish to control from prescribing, obtaining, and administering ivermectin. Ordinary citizens have had to resort to lawsuits to force hospitals to administer ivermectin. There have been isolated cases of people, usually celebrities, obtaining prescriptions for ivermectin in treating their wuhan virus infection, with success. The general practice i use will not prescribe it, I've been told....yeah, I asked.....Their choice,...well maybe their choice, who knows?......but  my dilemma.
