Sure would be a wild ride at the end.  Alas, my aspirations lie elsewhere.

Some updates on the honda.
It made it through winter in one piece!  Its owner however.  Is going to need shoulder surgery.  Damaged the socket at the workplace.  Tried to keep going, but it didn't improve.  Picking up wrenches and swingin hammers wasn't helping.
Since the doctor put me on only the lightest of duties.  There has been ample time to learn cad design and revisit 3d printing.
     So the bike got a new carbon fiber reinforced ASA shock resovoir holder.  Yippee.  Have come to appreciate ASA for its easy printing and durable parts making.  But thats not the end of the possibilities.
Having essentially abandoned the birdcage bodywork build.  Citing the absence of co-builder/teammate.  I've plunked a 3d photogrammetry scan of the bike and an ai generated homonculus of myself into some CAD software and began sketching away.

The challenge was to make an effective body kit, that could be whittled down to 9 inch cubes.  Install and remove easily, and have some remnant of conventional motorcycle aesthetic.
After a couple of days working over the 3d model.   I came up with this.
The cad suite has a pretty slick marketing photo creator built in!

Next stop, the virtual wind tunnel.

The ol college try really only reduced cda by 0.06 while picking up 0.25m² on the frontal area.

Majority of the problems are to the rear of the rider.   

The drag and noise is reduced with the body work.  But it will need a wider tail and belly pan to try and curb it.
Theres not much laminar flow happening once the motor and fairing kick the wind to the side.
Best bet is to try and catch it.  Would be helpful if the hollow void of the nose cone didn't want to carry a bunch of air inside it too.

Maybe i'll burn another $60 on airshaper analysis now that i have the belly pan and tail resculpted.

After reviewing the airshaper data, came up with a new front fairing with extended lowers.
The result was good, the machine looks good, and got the cda down into the realm of 0.37.
Even though i uploaded a model without its belly pan and the tailpiece off center.
i've also addressed the low pressure low friction area behind the footpegs.

let the 3d printing begin!  Would be nice if i had a large work volume though.

Did you purchase a 3d Scanner or use a friends? I am interested in getting one for exhaust work on my Suzuki GT550, want to route the 3 expansion chambers without a ton of test 3d prints.

I am also interested in if you are planning to fiberglass over the prints? I have had really good luck with TPU replacements for rubber isolators and dampers for these bikes, but have yet to really try anything structural.

LiveeviL - a friend talked me into carbon fiber skinning the part.
Same friend is also busting my chops for using the biggest cheapest rolls of PLA+ i could find.

Believe it or not, i pull off some rough but functional 3d scans with my smart phone.  Photogrammetry app called magiscan.  Similar to polycam with the notable addition it can generate a 3d stl from a photograph.
So the homonculus was derived from a trackside photo.  And the main bike was a series of 150 photos compiled into a model.
Another racer offered to team up and use his fancy scanner on our project bikes.  But he got mired in a honey-do list of home improvements and we haven't linked up yet.

Im waiting on two more pieces to print and the front fender form will be assembled.

Got the belly pan printed and stapled together.
Its mostly hanging on its own.  Gotta position the front mounts tomorrow.
Front fender is probably going to stay in two pieces since it makes all the assembly easier.
Halfway through sanding down all the staple shaped ridges, i decided to do stapling from the inside going forward.

Began modeling the front fairing support in cad.  Getting creative and thinking of more organic shapes likes bones and tree limbs.  The first article was printed light, one wall, minimum infill.  But was still super rigid.  The final piece will certainly be something else.  I gotta reposition the gauge cluster to make room.  Not that the tacometer ever worked.
I'll come up with something similar for the tailfin.  Both parts feature a centered slot to aid with aligning the fairing on the bike.  Airshapers virtual wind tunnel really drove it home, how sensitive laminar airflow is to even small variances in positioning.

The switch on my battery powered die grinder went out.  Got stuck in the on position.
Sometimes, it doesn't come back on unless the battery gets slammed into the posts a couple of times.  So i thought to myself "who says you can't kickstart an electric motor?"

In other news, am penciled in for shoulder surgery by the end of the month.
