No ride on Friday as we went to the Grand Canyon for the day. It's was about an hour drive to get there plus we made a side loop to see the old Indian ruins on the way there. A beautiful day and lots to see and take in.
The observation tower is at the east entrance, 1st viewing pull out that many people miss. Hint if you are going to the park, Mark says to enter from the East entrance as you will save a bunch of time getting in, the South entrance has mile long waiting line of cars.

Yesterday, Saturday, I rode from Flagstaff to Vegas to my son's. #37 10/25/25 275 miles
Vanessa fixed up a Spinach (*fresh from the garden),onion and bacon omelet(fresh eggs) with their homemade salsa for breakfast send off!
47° to start off at 10am, 87° for a high temp near the bridge at Hoover Dam(I didn't stop because of my back fighting the winds).
It's great to get to be with my grandkids again! I'll see the others this afternoon!

#79. October 26 2025, 69 miles, had plenty of heated stuff on, no part of me was cold really.

#80. October 27th 2025, 54 miles Went over and voted, dropped off wife's sealed absentee envelope. Did not wear Baclava or heated glves, those tho areas were cold. It was 46F when I left home.

No affiliation with this church, just something that I rode past that is really only a handful of miles from home and I do not recall seeing it before.

#81, October 28th 2025. 52 miles. Rode over to Archbold to a butcher shop that has killer garlic Bologna, sadly two times in a row they have none. Order some for when they run a batch. 42F when I left the house. Kept fairly warm, still working out colder weather gear.

Are you on the road back home Stu?
Not yet.
I will start the leg from Vegas to Florida on Monday.
I'm enjoying the family and seeing old friends here this week.

Yesterday I met up with friends from church from the late 1990s for breakfast, then went to harbor freight to replace 2 different rechargeable flashlights that quit working on the trip, the 1st store not far from the restaurant had the big rechargeable 1200LM worklight that lights up the campsite (and  can be propped up on the back of the camper if dark out to use as a backup light if needed and can recharge my cell phone if needed), then I had to go to another store in the northwest part of Vegas for the 1800 LM rechargeable tactical light.
I figured that I'd go for a ride up to Mt Charleston while I was that close to Kyle Canyon Rd and it was a super blue sky day out and my grandkids were in school so why not!

So ride # 38 happened, 159 miles for the day.
It was 75°F as I got onto Kyle Canyon Road at 10:30 and cooled to 60°F as I got up to the village at 7650'. The top of the mountain has a little bit of snow on it still from a week ago. Traffic up there was lite as it was Tuesday so I enjoyed the weather and the slow ride in the trees. It is such a contrast from the desert floor in Vegas and the air is clean and crisp in the desert mountain oasis! I even took a few videos with my phone on the Windbender Farkle Shelf and my fashioned adapted Ram Mount so the phone camera can stick up over the lowest setting of the windshield, but I'm still not techie enough to post videos (though I did take some screen shots while reviewing the videos).
After getting my fill of crisp air up there and the great twistie roads, I headed back down to the traffic in the valley, got on the 215 beltway around the west side of the upper valley hillside(there are spots you can see across the 40 mile wide valley to Henderson) and I got off at West Charleston Blvd to go to the Red Rock Canyon loop. I can't believe how far the housing developments have continued to get built up the sides of this big valley since I first lived here in 1981, it has spread out 20 miles to the west and has eaten up all the then empty desert floors where I used to crew on and flew hot air balloons around.....I guess they call it progress. It is a nightmare to ride in especially at rush hour when the idiots get behind their cage wheels. Sorry for the diegress(yes I purposely misspelled it).
Anyhow the Red Rock loop didn't disappoint with the bright blue skies. $2 for me to get in with my America the Beautiful Senior Pass(as it is a US BLM land park they are fully staffed and paid during the dem shutdown, unlike last weeks drive through the Grand Canyon w/free entrance).
Red Rock loop goes back in close to the deep canyon walls that are maybe 5-10 miles from Kyle Canyon (if you flew up over the mountain top towards the south) and is a different view all together from this side of the mountain, beautiful red sandstone interspersed in white sandstone and granite magma rock faces. The road surface is great and lots of twisties with hairpin corners diving in both directions as the one way loop winds through the hills and washes formed by the rain runoff on the southern edge of the mountain over the years. It is a definite must to ride if you find yourself in the area! It won't disappoint (unless it is 120°F in the summer heat!)and a perfect temperature this time of year at 65°F yesterday.
At the end of the loop I turned right past Spring Mountain Ranch State Park(another oasis in the desert to visit) and the enclave of Blue Diamond then I took a right onto Rt 160( that goes over the hump to Pahrump) and rode up to Mountain Springs to check out my nephew's lot to see if he had started building his new house yet. By the time I got up there, it was 2:00 and I was getting hungry so I returned back to the city to refill the bike and me. I thought about washing the bike but decided I best not wash it in my son's driveway so he wouldn't get reported to the water authorities....I'll have to find a self service car wash to do that....
By the time I got home and reheated leftovers and ate it my daughter in law brought my grandkids home so I had some fun playing with my granddaughter and some time holding my new grandson until he fell asleep in my arms. It was a very blessed day for me!

This tells of the Red Rock Loop

#82, 57 miles, rode over to Defiance, OH and back home, some sources say it was 42F when I left home, really pretty day, getting thermal management worked out, pretty warm overall. Running Hotwired jacket liner, pants liner, and gloves. Glanced down during the long run across US6 and the bike was telling me it was achieving 67.5 mpg. 747 watts is equal to 1hp so in theory the heated gear is using about 200 watts with all items set on high...should not really impact mpg much.

Fantastic scenery, Stu! ;) ;)

Reminds me about my rides  in the Alps before and after.
Plus the Pyrenees from France to Andorra in the 80's.
Tricky to see it all while riding.

#83, 10-31-2025, 52 miles. Ran through Walmart to grab a few things for supper then meandered around a bit. Sprinkled rain a few places and a few places it had rained before I got there but pretty much avoided getting rained on :-).

Bill, this is your new CB500, yes? Not your blue 750.

My own CB, I think it makes just a bit more than 200 watts, I’m not certain of the number, but I know I have missed some October rides because it’s chilly. 12v X 15a = 180 watts that’s my limit, and I think I should stick to it with a 55 year old harness. I have plenty to do with leaf cleanup.
Per, you have Anders upgrade kit, yes? I think Andy has it as well. Does it extend your season?

I just caught up on everyone's latest adventures, you've all been so busy.
I've been riding to the new job for most of the first month and I'm hoping to get a couple of valid rides logged in this thread this weekend. I'm still not able to view all of the photos from my phone, I'll try a laptop later on.

#18 for me today, 52.9 miles to Newmarket, New Hampshire mainly on Rt108. I stopped for an egg and cheese sub with onion that was very nice. Then I turned south toward home with the sun in my eyes. My west to east afternoon return commute has spoiled me and I didn't even think about it.

#8.  I took the 750 up for dinner to a friend's house way back up in the hills above Sweet, ID.  Here's about a 270 degree view from his front yard, excluding his house since this is the interwebs.  What a place.  Got back to my house after 103 miles at 11 pm in the dark.  I was reminded how crappy the headlight is and why I avoid riding the faithful 750 at night.

And #19 for me today, 56.1 miles, no stops, about 2 hours and 45 minutes.
I headed west on 113 then took Rt1 north, which was a nice run with the sun on my back.
Then nearing Portsmouth, NH I jumped on 101 west to 27 then 108 to 110 home.

#84, November 2 2025, 59 miles. Looked warmer than it felt at 60mph, just meandered around for 59 miles with no destination in mind. Bright sunshine day though :-)

#39 11/3/25 Monday, 275 miles. I left my son's in Vegas at 8:30am, 57°F, it warmed to 84°F by noon in Kingman AZ. Arrived in Flagstaff, at my friend's house by 4:00, back down to 60° because of the elevation.
Mark fixed dinner, pork chops in a pouch with southwest beans, Ro-tel diced tomatoes and green chillies, zucchini, red onion and red peppers all roasted on the grille. Ummmmmm Goooood!
Then we soaked in the hot tub which felt good to get the knots out of my shoulders.

I think this is the first transcontinental ride that has been posted here.
BomberMan went from Washington to New Mexico.
Budman had a 500 miler, Stu has had one here.
You’re doing great Stu!
How’s the tire pressure with the warmer temps?

Tire pressure is good. Not a problem in the heat as it's only been 85°.
I did find the I had play in the bushings on my swivel hitch so I bought a standard coupler and a ball so hopefully the sway will be corrected. I moved the load around before leaving Vegas to lower the tongue weight but nothing changed with that. I'll find out in an hour.
