On a Triumph forum (I have an old Triumph car) it was reported the British Post Office has suspended parcel post to the US, as the US is now demanding up front payment of tariffs by the seller. Extreme and I can't vouch for accuracy, but it's a sign of the times that I wouldn't be surprised if it were to be accurate.
What is definitely happening is instead of trusted US sources, alternative sources of spare parts for Triumphs and Nortons are being found instead. Duties, shipping costs and just the uncertainty of what will finally be charged are just too much now.
For my CB750, I was aiming to install Hondaman's transistor ignition modification and modern fuse box, but I am waiting until this all gets a bit more grown-up.
I lived and studied in the US in the '90s. And my wife was there for 2 years. We have friends in the US. We feel a close connection. But, we are starting to feel we are losing touch with a new emerging US that seems to have changed values. In part, it really serves us (particularly in Europe) right. We have taken the US for granted. But collectively we seem to be moving towards significant over-correction, which will damage all of the West.
