His ignition unit has worked great in my XS 650 for many years.

Sorry to hear about Pete. I seem to recall some discussions between him and Lloyd regarding ignitions that became heated at times? ;D

Sorry, I didn’t know Pete.

I’m a bit po’ed after reading the news article avoiding facts, throwing shade on Pete and motorcyclists and I wrote to the author at the Herald:

adys@heraldonline.com

I suggested a follow up story with headline
“minivan driver in a hurry turns in front of 84 year old motorcyclist/inventor PamcoPete, causing fatal accident.”

We've had quite a few this year in my area as well. The most recent being a 65 yr old rider running into an 85 yr old driver of a Porsche who pulled out into traffic without seeing the motorcyclist... so yes, its all incredibly tragic, and most times, preventable...
Start with the end in mind...

Ive heard so much good about Pete, and his ignitions, and its such a sad ending to a guy who lived bikes like us all, riding bikes is something thats hard to put down,or stop doing,Im 67 shortly and dont ride as much or often or as regularly as i used to,I do however still drive 4 days a week say 10 hours a day in a dumpster truck,I gotta say I dont think Ill be riding at 84?but thats just me,reflexes go down with age, vision and speed judgments?its just such a sad end.

I went to Pete's service yesterday. His son said that Pete was on the way to the airport to put StaBil in his plane. He planned on taking a flight for his birthday and was considering selling the plane next year.

From what I've gathered (and this is not official), Pete was probably slowing or stopped to make a left turn and was hit from behind.

Thanks Scott for the update and going to the service (on behalf of us all that could not). Its always good to know what happened and to remember the rider - Dave500 captured it well in his last post. Well said.
