FUNNIEST THING I'VE EVER SEEN ON A MOTORCYCLE
« on: April 17, 2007, 05:14:05 AM »
This is a true story (you can't make things up like this):
My buddy gets an XS-1 Yamaha. On his very 1st ride after sorta restoring it all winter, he didn't have a battery, so he bungied a HUGE ST1300 battery to the seat, rigged jumper wires, took it for a ride and as he rode down the block, the wires melted, started smoking and lit his pants on fire. I watched it ALL happen (priceless). Thank goodness we had plenty of beer (before and after) to quelch the flames.

No Pictures?  Doesn't your phone have a camera?  This should be a lesson to us all.  At the slightest hint of something being that funny, trot out some kind of imaging device.

I once saw some dude on a sporster riding down the street with a 30 pack of Old Style between him and the tank  ;D I was gonna follow him to watch him dump himself and the beer all over the street but I had to be somewhere..

Funny how people dont think sometimes...

My same buddy w/ the ST1300 has perfected the technique of carrying a case of beer on his passenger seat w/o a bungy.

A guy I work with told me a story about strapping a KEG to the luggage rack of his KZ 750 and, at one point, two cops helped him stand the bike up after he dropped it at a stoplight.

There's an old guy who cruises past here from time to time on his Harley, towing a flat-bed trailer with his German Shepard standing on it. The dog's leash is tied to the trailer and he stands in the middle of it. And he wears goggles!  ;D

I have seen dogs sitting on he tank riding. It is a crazy sight! But the dogs sure love it. I mean they love to stick their noses out of car windows!

Several years ago, a buddy of mine was coming down the mountain and lost it.  He was wearing a down filled jacket at the time, so when he hit the ground, his jacket burst and feathers went everywhere.  POOF!!!

It looked like he hit a damn chicken!!!

Luckily he was unhurt (except his pride), so it's a funny story now!

Look at that, a whole new meaning to "Tarred and Feathered" ;)

I use to carry my fishing pole, and I have also had desktop pc's on the bike as well.

Awhile back I was forwarded a lot of pics of motorcyclists in Hong Kong riding around with all sorts of unbelieveble loads on their bikes. Totally insane. One had a huge fish on the back...it was easily longer than the bike itself. At least the fish was dead!

That must have been before the internet - before they put the word 'information' in front of the word 'superhighway'.   ;)

Long story, but...I wish I had a picture of me riding with a 260 lb passenger carrying a driveshaft from a mid-70's Chevy pickup in one arm and holding onto my waist way too tight for comfort with the other arm...

As a student years ago, we had a motorcycle "treasure hunt" - on the list was a kitchen sink and a pretty girl....I rode back with both - stopped by the pretty girl and asked her to come with me on the back of my CB350 which she did and picked up the kitchen sink along the way...needless to say it was a tight squeeze  ;)

cheers
Andy

:D Years ago while going home from working second shift, I helped a motorist with a flat tire and no spare find a open filling station in a rural area, after midnight....myself, the motorist...and his full size tire on my '73 CL 450. About 20 miles later we found a open shop... :D

The funniest thing that the neighborhood girls saw (many years ago) was me. It was winter time and I was riding my 1977 CR 125 in the snow.  I saw a snow bank and the girls were watching and the awesome thought of me flying through the bank with snow flying everywhere went through my mind. It would have made a great picture.
So I went through the gears and built up speed and ran into the snow bank and my front wheel stuck in the snow, stopped the bike, and I went over the bars. To add to the embarassment, my kill switch got wet and I had to push the bike home. The snow sure looked fluffy when I was thinking it through.
It's funny how these type of things are usualy preceeded with "Watch this!"

Here in Bangkok I've seen pillion passengers on scooters carrying stuff you wouldn't believe, like 8'x4' sheets of steel, aluminium, ply, etc. I even once saw a guy carrying a 4'x6' mirror across his thighs :o He had a stunning view of what was happening behind him :)

A number of years ago on halloween night
I watched as a guy on a Norton pulled up beside me.
He had a full sized skeleton sitting on the back as if it were a passenger.
