Fork Lower Tree Stop Mod
« on: May 30, 2007, 03:57:52 PM »
The fairing I'm going to run needs low-bars; Clubmans seem an ez choice. I have a feeling the controls/master/bars will foul the fairing at full lock so the tree stops probably need to be modified. So do I drill a hole in each stop and insert a bolt w/ screws? Pic shows an early mock-up.
Tips appreciated before I start drilling away.

Looks like if you move the fairing up an inch or 2 in the front, it would clear clubmans.
Go metric, every inch of the way!

stainless steel hose clamps, the screw kind. put clip-ons on my 550 and they hit the tank. i assume that the steering stops are the same. put the clamp on the nipple part. the part that doesnt move. put it on so the screw part becomes the new stop. not sure what size i used but stops my clip-ons about 1/2 an inch or so before hits the tank
But thence came the Great Schism, when the two like tribes diverged, and the Bobbers did take the Road to Cruiserdom and the Cafe Racers did ride to Sportbikedom and they did pollute the lands along their paths with their abominable spawn of Choppers, Stuntaz and like manner of unholy douchebaggery

Drill and tap the fork stops......and insert the screw. Been doing it on my cafes and works perfect.
