Looking for motorcycle salvage/graveyards in North GA
« on: June 21, 2007, 12:00:07 PM »
I tried addressing this issue in the regional boards but it didn't look like many of you visited the South East region.

Anyway, does anyone here live in the Atlanta area? If so, are there any bike salvage yards you would recommend?

I've done a search on Google and found a couple places near Atlanta but I wanted to know if any of you have had dealings with someplace local.

I think that there are a couple. Look in the Cycle Trader - sometimes they are listed in there.  Rockdale Cycles in the Conyers/Covington area has helped my cousin many times.  There was one between Douglasville and Dallas on Hwy 92 called Paul's Cycle, but I think that he closed.
By the way, where are you located?  I am in Villa Rica -35 miles west of Atlanta on I-20.

I live in N. Georgia and was recommended to this guy from a friend:

STEVE'S CYCLE IN TIFTON, GA. 1-800-622-9253

He is in south Georgia but was told he has lots of good parts.

I'm in Athens.  All I've turned up through searches are Barrow in Hoschton/Braselton that doesn't look like much and one called Jack's in Tifton and Steve's in Tifton.  Steve's looks like it's the good one.  Tifton is quite a drive from here though, so I don't see myself making a visit soon.

I wish there was one where you could wander around and pull what you needed yourself.  I've always found inspiration walking in junkyards.

Glad to see some other Georgians.  Anyone ever get together and ride?

There was a man by the name of Weatherly that lived just outside Winder that had loads of old cars and a some bikes, too.  Last time I went to see him was 9 years ago or more, though.  Man, now I feel old :'(  Anyways, I used to live around Atlanta (both east and west of it) and sure miss it!

Dusty, you are just down the road from my sister!  She lives a few miles outside of Athens, used to live in Auburn.

ic455,
I'm always amazed what a small world it is.  I met with a client not too long ago and it turned out we're related.  2000 miles from our common ground.

I think I remember Weatherly's -he had a bunch of VWs in Bogart?  Is that the guy?  I'm pretty sure that's all gone now.  Next time I'm out that way I'll check.

I'm in L5P. I've called around and found a couple waaaaaaay out of town but I haven't been to any of them yet. Looks like I'll have to break down and take a drive one of these weekends.

Did you see a '58 Belvedere with a tree growing up against the right quarter?

Little 5 is weirder than ever. I head over to The Vortex every Thursday for bike night. Most custom bikes are pretty cool to check out. Also, I've learned quite a few things from other vintage bike riders.
Are you talking about A Cappella Books? If so, it's still here but they moved over by Junkman's Daughter.
