Actually I was nosing through my own collection. ::)

My wife is native San Franciscan (Lived about 20 blocks from the Haight, and went to all the concerts in the park in the late 60's early 70's  Hippies were unavoidable and she shared a J with Janis Joplin there.  I was a struggling Musician in the early 70's and learned many chops from the "Hippie music" being played.  I was also in California with the Navy in this period and heard EVERYTHING the drug addled youth felt was "groovy".

My record and tape collection was ripped off from that collection period (Including Ogden's Nut Gone Flake!).  Still I replaced a lot.

Wife says Chambers Brothers (Time Has Come today) , Country Joe McDonald (Feelin Like I'm Fixin' to Die Rag)
should be on the list.

And, I completely zoned out without adding
Allman Brothers Band,
Carole King  (Tapestry album)
Sons of Champlain later just The Sons,
Joni Mitchell
Dr Hook And The Medicine Show
Bachman Turner Overdrive
Crosby, Stills, & Nash
Chicago
Cold Blood
Tower of Power
5th Dimension  (Stoned Soul Picnic, Up, Up, And Away)
Richie Havens (Stonehenge)
Peter Frampton (Something's Happening)
Elton John, (Madman Across the Water, Tumbleweed Connection)
Mahavishnu Orchestra
New Riders of the Purple Sage
Procal Harem
Three Dog Night
Wish Bone Ash
Taj Mahal
Boz Scaggs
StoneGround
Elvin Bishop
Ten Years After
Cactus

TT, I'm glad you just listed Crosby, Stills and Nash.. I think Neil Young ruined a good thing when he teamed up with them... (my opinion)

I was going to say that, but didn't want to sound old.....

I used to have cases of albums, split them up a while ago between my sisters boyfriend and a girl I know, the two of them have thousands of albums each from the 50's to the early 80's. if I want to hear something I call em up.

Your wife has good taste in music. I rode to Woodstock on 250 Ducati. Man I am feeling old. For our friends in the UK, I would add Fairport Convention.

Not a bad deal Bob, I can repitch my tent. I actually can drive there in an hour from here. We just had heavy rain here so I can go roll in the mud right here and relive the experience.  ;D

Iron Butterfly (In-Gadda-Da-Vida)

Caution; somewhat off-topic.

I was just at Cedar Point this weekend w/my daughter's travel softball team after their last tourny of the year.  Cedar Point is one of the roller coaster capitols of the world, which is just great in that my daughter is terrified of them. Anyway, she finally screwed herself up enough to go one one and loved it and she kept going on it seemingly forever.  It was called the "Iron Dragon"; however, for some reason I kept calling it the "Iron Butterfly".  I then had this song stuck in my head for the rest of the day.  Now, two days later it shows up for the first time in years....eerie, huh?

Back on topic.

Anyone mention "Pet Sounds" by the Beach Boys yet?
Canned Heat
The Band
Arlo Guthrie
John Mayall
Van Morrison
Todd Rundgren
Jefferson Airplane
Yes
Kinks
Byrds
Doobies

...I think I'm slipping too far into the 70's...

Anyone remember the King Biscuit Flower Hour?

While we're own "Feeling Like I'm Fixin to Die Rag"

who didn't know all the words to that tune back then?  ;)

Chambers Brother's, "Time Has Come today" would definitely be at the top of the list. 8)

Nobody mentioned Meatloaf, or is that the wrong time frame?  I was born in 69 so I missed out on that part of youth.  Journey had some good stuff as well.
