Sparty picks up his new Mike Rieck engine!
« on: August 19, 2007, 06:57:43 PM »
Met up with Art (Sparty) who came to Boston on Saturday to see Mike Rieck and pick up his new engine - here are the photos....some video as well...

cheers
Andy

The Engine...

Polished cases - not the smooth allen head screws

from the other side  -check out those allen heads!

and from the back - round-head allen heads...

Art inspects it carefully...

....from all directions...

as Mike puts the finishing touches.

All these damned Mike Rieck threads are starting to annoy me now >:(

to the point that I am seriously considering throwing my 550 motor into a suitcase and taking a long holiday in Boston, just so I don't end up being the only one on here who doesn't have some of his work on my bike ;D

You will need two more suit cases.  One for parts and one full of money. ;)

That is a sweet looking piece o' machinery.

It almost seems a shame to hide it with all those other parts.(frame, tank, etc)

Hope sparty has some white gloves to wear while working on it! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

It does look good boys, too bad it wouldn't always look so good.

When I was finishing my wifes 550 and it too was all clean & spiffy and she was nervous about the first scratch or dent. I told her when it was ready to ride we would open the garage door and just push it out and let it fall over to christen it!

Couldn't actually do it though!

For you custom SOHC engine artists, you should create little tags for the engines with ID's and file the history away somewhere on your end. An artists always leaves his or her mark.

Good job!

If it's not impolite or out of line...

May I ask what kind of work was done to the engine and how big of a suitcase of cash do I need ?

Respectfully,

Angelo

Mike scribed his mark on my engine.  He put it under the head.  His initials, date, and who the engine was made for.  Just like Picasso would do if he built high HP engines. ;D
