Ben took pics of both head stocks, you'll see the difference, about an inch lower in the frame.

That "CR750" was there in April - wonder why it's not selling?

Well maybe not a '70 CR but, at least for me, close enough. I knew I had it somewhere, but managed to find it in that stack of old magazines. A article about the 1974 production racers from Honda. The Dutch importer managed to get two of these complete bikes, build at the factory. In the article it is mentioned that although Honda rather used megga's, these bikes were equipped with a, open, 4 into 1. The bikes were build with 'senior-set' parts. They gave 90 hp at 9.500 rpm, c.r between 1:10,5 and 1:10,9 and ignition advance pre-set at 40° BTDC. Weight 173 kg dry. Topspeed 260 km/hour. (162.5 mph)
Looking closely at the pictures some thing catches the eye, like the lower shock mount which is 'normal' and not like the CR750.

Tracking Down Honda CR750's.
Sam Green racing recently went to stafford bike show. we spotted steve murray and this what we believe to be a original cr750 frame;

And the number.

Now then... pay attention.
this is what you would see on the road going bike.

Notice the difference?

these are the forks of the originals;

Spondon swing arm;

Rear sub frame of the original;

I got to touch it ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Looks like a 40mm lower steering head to me. Rear section has CR breather can on it and mounts for seat like on Sumiya's 1973 bike.

Foot peg mounts are CR style.

I hope someone purchased this one.

It's 3.30 am over here Mark so I can't start phoning people.
The guy who was selling it is a mate of Steve Murray, I'll phone Steve tomorrow night to see if it sold or what else he might have.
I did meet the guy some years ago but can't even remember his name.
He's quite local to me in a place called Chester close to Billy Smith.

Those fork sliders look a little odd. Not from a 1970 CR to my eyes - check out any decent pic of Dick Mann's bike, there should be a much deeper grove between the studs fore and aft extending into the main body of the slider and the end caps seem a rather poor match, especially for a works bike. Any thoughts anyone of what they might be from?
Good picture of the oil cooler though. Thanks Sam.
