I welded some flat steel across the frame to mount my seat......re-taped the finished seat to make my seat pan......layed down 3 layers of fiberglass matt.
Once the glass cures...I'll pull it off...cut it....than glue my foam and upholstry to it and bolt the pan to the seat:

Awesome work!!!! I really dig how you do your seats, deceptively easy (the sign of a master!).

Your paint work on the tank is magnificent. It has a real Guzzi Ambo/Eldo feel to the pattern.

I cut the seat pan .....fiberglassed some bolts in the pan to mount to the seat....I too some high density seat foam and glued it down to my pan with 3M contact adhesive.... I shaped the foam with a disc sander....to be about 1 1/2" thick.......I sprayed contact glue on the back of the perimeter of the pan and on my vinyl....stretched the vinyl over and voila....I'm done with the seat.

That's just kick ass work, man. Do you hire out?

One question, though: At the front of the seat, you see a little bit of the un-striped paint. Is that going to get a touch up, or are you going to leave it as is?

Incredible work. I plan on doing, roughly, the same thing with my K8 project. I'll be marking this post for tips on the process.

I was originally going to pad the front of the seat...thats why I didnt stripe the area.....but after putting that much foam on made the seat pad too thick....I'll probably leave it as is

I scored these Magura solid forged aluminum race clipons for my CB.....whoo hoo!! They should polish up nicely!

Project is looking good. I also have a 74 550 in the works but it has been put on hold while I catch my bank roll up after christmas spending. The seat you made looks great and is the same technique I intend on using. It really came out nice. Keep the pics coming and I should have some updated on my project in a few weeks. Right now we are putting the finishing touches on our new shop then we have to move out tools and equipment in, after that I should be making some headway. Keep up the good work and I'm glad to see that you made your seat and didnt buy one..........Chris

I cut down the handlebar mounts and ground them down.... I sanded and stripped the upper triple tree to get it ready for poilshing.

Besides the rain....I got to snap a couple of pics outside before it got too dark. I still need to do some polishing and wiring...but its almost there!

That tree branch reflection in picture 3 sure looked like broken fiberglass at first glance.

well done bhppy101! Clean and the lines flow nicely. Love the color and the racing stripes. Dark and subtle, yet pulls you right in. And love the black patch on the side of the tank. First look i thought it was knee indents, second look i thought it had knee pads, then i zoomed in, it was painted. Very nice and very original. Keep up the good work!

Dude, I'm gone for a few days and you're about done!

Looking sharp...very sharp! I started looking at how I can modify my rear fender and relocate the brake light, without cutting the seat yet. It may be possible...going to experiment.

I like your color choice, looks very clean. I'm on the fence about what to paint mine...though the red/black paint scheme is slowly growing on me. I was thinking 70's green of some sort...I want it to stand out.

Yup....just about done

. I fabbed up a bracket to mount just one gauge to keep it low and centered. I put the speedo on but I might swap it out for the tach...Thats all I really need!

I took it out for a ride today in the Malibu Canyon (Mullholland)...what a HOOT!!! I think I might have to stiffen the front springs and add some thick oil to the forks...but it handled great! Got a bunch of people asking questions evertime I stopped. I had a blast!
