projector headlights...viable alternative?

just found these on ebay, and am thinking i might adapt one to the CB... what do you guys think???

Well........how does it work?

I have a habit of hitting deer on my Island.

Is it brighter? wider beam? longer beam?

What did you order, and from where? Earlier this summer, I ordered the 7" Halogen conversion kit from JC Whitney, but my housing is smaller and I couldn't figure out how to make it fit!

basically i got ride of my head light adjustment am using the internals from a HQ Holden(old car in OZ), and have mounted it solidly to the outer rim... the only adjustment i have is up ad down, on the headlight ears, but thats ok... i looked at the hid but couldnt justify the price they were asking...peace

so this will not fit a 7" honda cb headlight bucket with a chrome adjustment ring? do you chuck the ring completly or what?

i didnt chuck the ring, its in a box in the shed, but you cant use the honda one, i am using the chrome dress ring fron another vehicle, with the matching back plate...if you look closely at the front shot of the head light, you will see three screws around the out side of the light, between the outer chrome ring, and the inner chrome ring... this isnt the original outer ring, got another one off ebay(for the 750), but what i did was use the screws to hold the inner ring and backing plate, with head light, to the outer ring.... i flatened  a small section of the outer ring lip, and put a small notch in it so that the screws had something to screw down on... the headlight is solid,no wobbles, and as i said i can adjust it with the head light ear mounts..... peace

I have gone the same way. Bought a headlight off Ebay mine has glass lense and a plastic of some kind chromed rear. Bought a H4 Superwhite halogen bulb off Ebay as well. The headlight took the decorative chrome ring off the Honda lens. But I had to dodgy up some brackets to make the lens fit to the main support shroud. I used some aluminium angle for the two side supports and bent hoop iron for the adjuster. I attached em with screw self tapping screws into the plastic and drowned em in Araldite.
Might look rough but I figure what you don't see don't hurt you.

PLUS: I always have the original lens that will fit back in exactly for those purists!

Will let you know whether it works or all falls out in a heap after a few rides.
