The Yamiya replica is a copy of the first Yoshimura CB750 pipe, whereas Carpys pipe is a copy of the much nicer, later Yoshimura pipe. I prefer Carpy's, although Yamiya are selling plenty of their pipes too. Cheers, Terry.

Carpy's has the smooth bends in the section behind the collector and the Yamiya is a cut and shut....as far as i know No yoshi pipes were cut and shut, they were all bent tube.

The Yamiya's pipe is an authentic copy of the very early Yoshi pipe Mick, the smoother bends happened later. Cheers, Terry.

Carpy, just to let you know you are the one who got to wanting to build a cafe. I have a 70 JDM that I bought new that I plan to restor and picked up a 76 yesterday that is going to be built as a cafe,so it is all your fault,but I like it.I am 61 now and still love riding.

the carpy pipes are also ceramic coated stainless. i lust for one of those pipes.

i have one of carpy's exhausts on it's way. ordered last week when the price dropped. too bad i don't have a running motor to throw it on, sorry to tease!!! but i will post some pictures on here, more detailed ones than carpys website

ya, when i get pictures, i can post them of the piece itself, but in regards to mounting and hearing it, it'll be awhile $:-\$

but ya, it's $399 now with $65 shipping. grand total was $464.99, ain't too bad, especially considering the piece looks a lot nicer and higher quality than the yamiya piece!! just waiting on carpy now...

Does he make each one per order?? Meaning I don't suppose he has a surplus pf them just lying in his garage?

Also he said with his, there is no need of a rear bracket to hold it up, is this correct?

How hard is it to hand bend some tubing to make a pipe? My dad ownes an exhuast shop and has a exhaust bender but hand bent pips I think look cooler. Makes it look like you built it out of ur garage. If its not to hard would be cool to make one and then posibly make one in my garage instead of driving an hour to my dads shop.

carpy says that Pops from the original Yoshimura is building these for him as he lives in CA now.

he gets them made in batches of like 15-20 at a time, although i don't know that at all, i'm just making assumptions from his websites pictures.

he says you don't need a rear bracket, but i'd rather not have my cylinder head supporting the weight. the whole pipe starts to act as a long moment arm, and bumps and vibrations from the road will amplify themselves a LOT on the mounting bolts and flanges, and i wouldn't want to do anything like that... i don't like this at all, but being an engineer doesn't help any ignorance in this matter at all. i will probably either weld a bracket (not the cleanest) or get some psuedo-schnazzy bracket that wraps around it.

and bending a pipe like that, NOT easy, otherwise the market would be flooded by them. especially with the tight radius curves under the engine and the constant diameter increase of the end. they are fully mandrel bent from what i can see, with no kinking, which is hard to do with anything but the best mandrel benders. $400 is a damn good deal for a 4-1 period. i'd suggest anyone wanting one should support carpy and these great pipes.

Yep, he says that on his site and i'm sure he posted that here as well. I think they are made by a former Yoshi worker.

"Pops" was the nickname for Hideo Yoshimura, the famous motorcycle tuner who founded the Yoshimura brand. He did move to CA back in 1971, but died in 1995, so if he's still making pipes for Carpy, he's doing it by telekinesis, ha ha!
