Does anyone know much about the Yamaha Seca?
« on: September 17, 2007, 09:52:49 AM »
I ran across this bike awhile ago and now that the kid i was trying to get in contact with on a VFR doesnt seem like hes all that eager to sell it given i havent heard back from him. Im pondering this bike again..The bike in question is a Yamaha XJ750 Seca. I cant remember if its an 81 or 82. But i do know its got the double headlight set up that was optional as well as the original fairing thats in rough shape from the bike being dropped on its side. I know it is a shaft drive and an inline four..and it is a sport touring style of bike. Im looking at it mostly for the same reasons i was getting the XS...long distance travel hence i would probably be repairing the fairing and reinstalling it or fitting the bike with a windscreen of some type.

Well it seems good things come to those that wait...it appears i may wind up getting this seca as well now that i already have the S2..Im mostly getting this bike to replace the 83 Interceptor in the stable and to give me something i can use to commute to work with. Im going to take a look at it later this afternoon now that i found out it is still for sale.

I had one of these 83/  900cc.
A GREAT tour ride bike with plenty of get up and go!

I Loved that bike. No maintenance and a very smooth ride.
I think they did poorly as it was a Sport/Tour combo and most riders went, with a crotch rocket or a full tour instead.
It was a great bike for me, 100s of miles on weekends either running with the bulls or slipping slowly up Chuckanut Drive nice and slow. ;D

It is a bad ass motor, most of the parts are interchangeable from the 750 Maxim.
Also some of them where mad TURBO, yep. It does not work like a Mr. Turbo set up but it is cool.
My only complant is the faring something about it is not right but that is just me.

I still own one
Yep, i have issues with this sort of stuff.

Well i can toss the idea of getting the seca out the window for two reasons..one the other buyer may have already gone for it...secondly i had the luck of my car dying on monday morning..and getting impounded before i could go back to boost it...
