This is Jon at PIR on Saturday.
He's the guy that will be riding my race cb350.

The bike he is on is a monster 800.
We've put on a 999 fairing, which gave him about 10mph extra at top speed (140ish vs 128)

The bike isn't running perfectly. He's got some titanium pipes, and the shop did a #$%*-all job of remapping the AF ratio.

This week, we will be doing some things that will put the bike at about 80 RWHP as opposed to it's current 66 or 67 rwhp.

He'll be competing against SV650's, for the most part, on his Duc.

These changes should make his bike competitive. Right now, due to the low end tuning of the stock m800, he's losing in the straights. The changes this week will change that.

This was a practice day, so he was out there with 600's and litre bikes, making 115 to 160+hp. Did damn well, considering the power difference.

Need a bit more money and a lot of time, but it'll happen soon. Less than a month form now, god willing.

The guy in leathers even further to the right is Mo. He's on an sv650, he lets us pit with him.
He's very fast. He wrecked in turn one lap 3 of his first race.

I had 20 minutes or so to get his bike ready for his next two races. Got him back out pretty much just in time, and he was still pulling 1:20's and 1:19's even after the crash, with a screwed up shoulder, mismatched rearsets and an iffy front-end. (Jon's best time was 1.29, which is really good for his first race. He cant wreck for 5 more races, so we make sure he doesn't.)

Both Mo and Jon went down yesterday in their last race.
Pissing down rain all day.
Jon was on newish race dots, Mo on new rain tires.

Jon was doing really well this time out, gaining an impressive 8 seconds over his last race day, on average.

Was last race for him, told him to take it easy, track was wet. Since he was running dry tires, he was trying to stay in the dry line.
However, he had gotten slightly out of his line, was holding fine in the wet, but tried to make a correction to get back into the dry line. The little extra pressure on the contact patch to get back to the dry line caused a very soft low side.
He's fine, bike is pretty much ok, need to get ready for next race day.

If you want to see just how fast these guys are really going, this is a camera on one of the bikes he races against. Different class, but same bike. (the sv650 this camera is on qualifies for 450 superbike, but also for middlewight supersport, which is what jon rides in (as well as 650gp twin, and middleweight superbike))

Yeah, these guys are cookin', for sure.
And these are on 650 twins.

The 600, 750, and open superbike classes are turning times 5 to 10 seconds faster than the twins.
Consider that. 12 laps, 10 seconds, that means about 2 MINUTES FASTER to finish the 23-ish miles.

Practice on Saturday, that's a pretty well built 750 there. Makes more power than Jon's Duc.
